To be happy we have to follow some rules.
Yama:
--------
Ahimsa = Non violence
Astheya = Never steeling other`s things
Aparigraha= Controlling craze towards luxurious life
Satya= To be truthful
Brahmacharya= Controlling the lust.
Niyama
-----------
Soucha= Maintaining cleanliness
Santhosha= To be happy for no particular reason
Swadhyaya= Learning and learning and learning
Tapah= Having hunger of Knowledge forever
Iishwar Pranidhana= Believing a Supreme Power
Among these two the YAMA is considered as Universal rule, that every Religion should follow. Otherwise they are not religions.
And the NIYAMA is for an Individual that, he can implement in his life, thus it is `optional`.
But to be happy always these two are very very important.
Patanjala Yoga Sutra gives importance to these two basic rules along with six other rules. That is why it is called "Ashtanga Yoga"; means eight folded yoga

Choosing happiness. Happiness that depends upon anything outside of ourselves is not true happiness. It can disappear at any time. We, however, have the ability to be happy whenever we choose. Think about it. We are always choosing. But you say, "I can't be happy with all the suffering in the world," or "I don't have much money, how can I be happy if I am worrying about bills?" The answer to the first dilemma is a question, "Will your unhappiness at the world's woes help you or anyone else?" The answer to the second is that worrying is a choice, and worrying is not an action that helps anyone. You can choose to be happy, NO MATTER WHAT because you have the ability to choose.

Being Blunt
Everybody is full of it when they say money does not make happiness. When you don't have the stress of bills, and "if you can get that or not", and "is your credit is sufficiant enough to get that car", life is of course much happier as you can now focus on all of these BS answers that most have given to this question.
Lets face it family can be stressful. Add that to money problems and you have a broken family full of arguments and problems. Take out the money thing and you can focus on making the family a more tight knit group.
"Hey! We've got some cash! Let's go to dinner and a movie." Sounds like their happy!

When I accomplish a task successfully I feel empowered and happy. I can't take failure and whatever I find difficult I keep on trying till I succeed and when I succeed it brings me a message also that Yes I can do it. Whenever I learn something new I feel very happy. So it is a continuous process for me and I keep on looking for new opportunities to learn new things and brighten my personality so that I remain happy. Age is not a barrier for me.

What keeps me happy is doing things I enjoy--talking with friends on the phone, my new job, doing what I have wanted to do for years, and enjoying festivals in my home state.
