Bad experiences: Tables so close together that they are practically touching. Loudness so you can't hear the conversation. Children running around while parents sit and ignore them. Cold food. Really wanting something on the menu and they are out of it. No refills on drinks. Food not fresh. Bad coffee or iced tea. Wiping tables off with a cloth that has been used 1,000 times. People arguing around you. Once, there was actually a fight in a restaurant and a table was knocked over, splashing food and drink everywhere. Hearing profane conversations around you. Grouchy waiters/waitresses. Homophobic or racist waiters/waitresses. Taking too long to get the food. Sushi that is unfresh. Sodas with too much ice. Food not tasting good. Staff obviously trying to get you to eat fast and leave so they can turn the table over.

This is kind of both, I and my parents were out to eat at Pizza Hut and somehow we were forgot about! LOL
We were seated a waitress took our order, then for some reason, maybe she was distracted to something else but she forgot to tell the chef! lol
We were waiting a half hour for our food, finely a guy came over to us and said have you been waited on? We said yes and what we ordered, he went back and found the chef was not cooking that, he had no order for that! The guy came back and apologized, he said I am so sorry you were forgot it seems, your drinks are on the house.
Then when he came back again with our drinks he apologized again and said he did not realize how long we had been there, all our meals are on the house totally.
So we waited another 15minutes or so and had our food then.
That happened years ago.

Worst restaurant experience was when I went to a Mexican joint called "El Charo" I had ordered a tostada, and it came back with a live cockroach wiggeling around in it. I left the restaurant, and never went back. The best experience I have had at a restaurant was at a Japanese restaurant in Honolulu where we had a Japanese tea ceremony, authentic service, and great food.

I had dinner with friends at "The Top of the Center Square" in my home town, Philadelphia. It's the highest restaurant in the city, and very expensive. We were treated like royalty. I've had better food, but the service was impeccable.

My favorite place is Red Lobster. The closest one is over an hour and a half away! So eating there is a rare treat. But the last time I was there they forgot to give me my endless basket of Cheddar Bay Biscuits...those bastards!!! I didn't drive all the way there to be biscuitless!!!

of course ......
not sure how to explain though .
awkwardness, bad food, bad waiters are bad ..
good company, good food and cheap prices, and being comfortable is good.
