This has to be the worst defeat in Michigan's history, and only proves the rankings are a joke,to say Michigan was overrated is an understatement

It does remind one of the dictum of the great Bear Bryant; "It's OK to schedule ****. Just make sure it's **** you can beat."

They don't call it 1A anymore, but that game certainly is an arugment for their competing on the same level as the big boys. That wasn't a fluke win. They were flatout better than Michigan that day, and clearly they had more speed than Michigan was prepared to deal with. That being said, I'd say reserve judgment on such a measure until later in the year (moving them up to the top tier could have devastating impacts on the program if they aren't ready). It is still just one game, and nobody really knows how bad Michigan really is yet. IF Michigan goes 10-2, strong case for App state. IF they go 3-9, perhaps not. Also, a good barometer would be how bad App state beat up on the rest of their opponents this year. If they go undefeated and blow everyone out, another good indication they are ready for the NCAA's top tier.

Michigan was NOT excessively overrated - they have a very good team, they returned Henne and Manningham among others, things like this just happen, it's unbelievable but they happen. And I don't think they'll be inviting Appalachian State over for a looong time. I think App State should jokingly request Michigan over to their stadium next season, lol!

I think this will want Michigan to play them again for revenge. Its not like they played a no name team that only won 3 games last year, they played a 2 time defending champ school that knows how to play football. And no I am not a Michigan fan, I am a Notre Dame fan, thats a different story that we can talk about,
NEVER>

It was the Commander of Appalanchian troops that cleverly hid in the wooden horse to ensnare Michigan's forces in a disguised military victory. This defeat of Michigan will only empower Wisconsin forces to take back the U.P. which obviously belongs to norther Wisconsin.

I don't think that it means that Appalachian State won't be invited to Ann Arbor again

BIG TEN FOOTBALL SUCKS. And Appalachin State has been 2A champs two years in a row. They arent Little League Chumps, not by a longshot, though Michigan on the other hand are.

LOL...I bet some AD's at some schools are mighty nervous right now.

Ann Arbor probably isn't the only place Appy State won't be welcome.

That said, any team who cancels an existing contract to play these guys are gutless.

Doesn't matter, the idiots in Ann Arbor are the worst hosts anyway!

Who would ever want to be invited there?

Actually, it means that Appalachian is probably going 1-A in the next couple years...much like Marshall did a few years back...

I'm sure Michigan will want to regain some of their pride in the future. My question is....How hard is it going to be for Michigan to write that $400,000.00 check to Appalachian State now?? lol
That's a hard pill to swallow.
