Ok, so according to the police report, Senator Craig was in a public restroom stall in an airport trying to coerce another guy into sexual relations...what I don't understand is, the homosexual population is very low, so how would he be so bold to just try to get some random person in a stall next to him to do something like that??? I mean what the hell, unless you're at a gay bar or something, what are the odds you're going to find a gay partner next to you in a public restroom?

At least I now know that if I'm in a public restroom and someone is tapping their foot and waving their hand underneath, it's a gay signal...but is this something well known in the gay culture? Is this a signal that is fairly understood? I'm so confused.

Sorry misterlyle, I guess I'm not up to the whole gay-public-restroom-sex scene...give me a ******* break...and 45 million, that's about 15% of the population, and I think that's a pretty high estimate...even if it isn't, 15% is a pretty small percentage, so once again I ask, how the hell are you going to try to pull something like that when at most, 15% of the people around you are interested in it?!?!

And even if this isn't something uncommon in the gay community, isn't this at least something EXTREMELY irresponsible for someone like a SENATOR to be doing??? Even if it wasn't an undercover police officer, he still could've gotten himself into an altercation. Couldn't he hire some high quality, confidential gay escort service or something?? It's just unbelievable...though I do understand that people tend to make their worst decisions when sex is the driving force.

Hahah Cowboy, just check this out, the official police report:

http://media.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/politics/ssi/craig_police_report_082807.pdf

If you think this was all "fabricated" then you can think whatever you want...but it's pretty obvious what was going on here. This sort of stuff does happen, even to Senators, and I'm sorry if you were a big Larry Craig fan, as this must hurt deeply.

The reason the undercover cop was in THAT particular bathroom is because it was notorious for being a gay meeting spot...so IF Craig was trolling for a "quickie" between planes, that would have been a likely place to go and a likely place to meet someone with the same goal.

Interestingly, the bathroom was no where near the terminals that Craig would have been using for a simple pit stop. So, why did he choose that particular one?

In the first place, the Senator did not "coerce" anyone as you stated. Let's get the facts straight. Your stating things, issues, that haven't been proven, your taking the cops side without looking at what the Senator has said and, how many people are in jail because of people like you that point their finger without looking at the facts. Or, are you a "rumor monger, a gossip starter?"

I wouldn't have the slightest idea what gays do in rest rooms but, I think this is ridiculous. President Bush has intervened with the Senator, I hope for that cops sake, he's right and can prove it. The senator has a lot of big names behind hin now and is going out for the skin of that cop.

From what I read, that cop is alluring, and has allured twelve people into arrest and is now looking at his own career in the department.
I know for a fact, the Minneapolis police department has a high crime rate, the city in itself needs help with crime, not alluring gays into an arrest. Why isn't this cop, if he's so good, out catching real criminals, I thought the motto of most police departments was "to protect and serve"

I could care less if someone "bumps" my foot in the public restrooms, in some your elbow to elbow anyways, they're so cramp together, so what? does that mean I have to worry about getting arrested. give me a break.

the gay population is around 45 million in the USA. how is that low? and secondly, public restrooms are where lots of gay sex occurs... where have you been??

edit: yeah 15% is a low estimate actually. and you admit you know the "signs" (which is weird because i've never heard of the foot tapping or hand waving). have you ever met a gay person? they sometimes act/dress/talk sorta different, so it's not always hard to pick up a gay vibe... especially if it's a police sting designed to attract other gays. jesus, relax dude i'm not attacking you personally or anything

I used to be very naive about these things also. It is way more common then any normal person can comprehend. This is way more common in the local parks. With children playing in the playground right outside. It's sick.

The term the gays have been using for this is "tearoom trade". Look it up. I have read books about this. It's amazing what goes on around us and we have no clue.

If this wasn't so common they wouldn't have a "sting" operation going on. It's very common in the gay community. They are known for sleeping around with many partners. For many it doesn't matter where or with whom.

The problem arises when married bi-sexual men are afraid and don't know where else to go to get their sexual fixes without getting caught. So the easy answer is anonymous sex, a quick fix, in a public restroom where they don't think they will get caught.

They do get caught (sometimes), they do get diseases, they do bring them home to their unsuspecting wives.

It seems you make a signal and see if you get a result. Not only did he make overtures, but he made it obvious before he even entered the toilet stall that he had other things on his mind apart from taking a dump. It also seems that senator craig was rather persistent in his efforts to get a date as shown in this reenactment shown in the link which uses the official police report as the script.

I wouldn't understand it. If some guy shoved his foot into mine I'd just move my foot.

If someone was waving their hand under the stall wall I'd figure they had no paper and I'd give them a roll of mine (or at least some).

I may be out of touch but the idea of sex in a public bathroom is disgusting. I don't even like going in one to relieve myself.

Who has the time between TSA inspections and airline screw-ups to troll for sex in the airport john? I'm happy if I get where I am going within an hour of the scheduled time.

I've probably tapped my foot or jingled my keys in a public bathroom. Now I've got another thing to watch out for.

I don't think there was any coercing as you put it.
His hand touched the bottom of the partition and his foot touched the cop's foot. That was it.
Somehow you can be arrested for this?
