He hasn't followed through. Doesn't return my calls (3messages/3weeks). I'm working two part-time jobs and have NO more$$. BROKE is putting it nicely. He canceled court once already. I really feel he is working more for my ex than for me. I don't have anymore $$$ to hire another lawyer, I borrowed to pay him in the first place. What should I do?

Leave a message that you are going to file a complaint with the bar association. He call you back real quickly.

Fire him and hire an attorney who will work for you. If you have paid him money as a retainer and he has not done the work , first step would be request an itemized billing every month. If he has not met his end of the bargain, you can file a complaint with your local Bar Association.

Downside is if you have any outstanding unpaid legal bills, the attorney does not have to proceed with your case until your bill(s) are brought current or a retainer paid in advance.

You'll have to get another lawyer to file an ethics violation against him.

.
Write a letter to the Attorney General of your state and leave the lawyer one last message...

Best wishes,
