After their win against Tenn tonight, I have high hopes for my Golden Bears. However, the match up with USC is always a hellish moment for Cal, time and time again. Despite their lack of a solid defense, does anyone think they actually have a chance this year?

Personally, I think it's a bit too early to tell, but I just wanted to check in. :)

Cal has gotten close against USC several times in recent years, and this year should be no exception.

I think USC is the better team, but I would not be surprised if Cal (with all its offensive weapons) pulled off a victory.

Sorry to say this but to beat USC, you got to have a good defense and Cal couldn't stop Tenn. Volunteers from scoring in the first half. Look this is USC first game of the season, they didn't play all of their starter and the reason they looked rusty because this is the 1st game and they're trying to put alot of peoples in the game and find out, to see what kind of player they have on the receivers and running backs, these players are new on the offense, they never started a game before. To beat USC bring your A defense, if your team don't have a great defense, forget it. Tell me more after USC play Nebraska 2 weeks from now, if they're a good team or not.

Cal looked great tonight even against an overrated Tenn. I'm watching USC Right now and I'm not impressed it is very early but USC's D has some holes and Idaho is playing them pretty well. I think if any Pac-10 team can beat them it's Cal but it won't surprise me if USC plays 100% next week

As a huge USC fan and Pac-10 fan in general. I think that Cal could pull off the upset with the game in Berkeley. Cal looked really good against Tennessee. Cal has to go to Autzen and to the Rose Bowl. If they do well there I think that they could beat the Men of Troy. Although I don't want to see that happen. But I do think it's possible. Cal is a top 10 team.

Cal always has a chance against USC. They have always been close in recent years with a good team and they beat USC when they had a crappy team that went 6-6?? in 2003-2004.
I hate how people are judging everything on the first game though. If you didnt realize in USC's case, Patrick Turner and Washington was out, as well as half the O Line starters are injured. The defense used multiple depth varieties and Cushing was out the entire game. (plus 6 different rbs took snaps in the first 3 qrts). It was a warm up game in my eyes and i expect them to come out full force in Nebraska.

Cal had to be creative and Jackson returning punts is always a treat. They brought their A game and they won. They better stick to their A game offensively against USC b/c that will be their best chance unless their defense magically gets better.

If you look at that SC roster, it doesn't seem anyone can contend. However, the great thing about college football is that just about anything can happen to swing momentum. Desean Jackson is worthy of being a Heisman candidate, Justin Forsett has packed on 10 pounds of muscle during the offseason and now runs through (as well as around) players, Longshore (when given time) seems to make decent judgment calls, and the defense is now anchored with true-to-form stars (or future stars) in Rulon Davis and Zack Follett. (By the way, did you see that hit on Ainge? I actually feel sorry for the guy) SC in previous "invincible" years had many scares with Notre Dame and even Hawaii. Although I agree that it is much too early, I think the 07 Cal team has a great shot at upsetting. The pieces are in place and, short of any major injuries, could result in one helluva surprise for SC fans. (I think the same can be said of UCLA, another great team to watch)

I think they have a great shot, last year they had the lead at Half against SC at USC they wound up losing but played a great game. Being at home gives them a great chance I think they wil beat USC and UCLA will beat CAL thats what I'm hoping being a die-hard Bruin Fan. Go UCLA!

If last year Oregan State could beat USC I am telling you that Cal has a very solid chance to win but it is kind of to early to being saying that but thats what I think

Yes. That is the beauty of college football... everygame counts. Even when you are two games up in your conference and its the last week before conference championships... there still is pressure.

I dont think USC will be looking past Cal. But, if Cal isnt undefeated when they play - I think it would be to USC's detriment.

some polls have Obama forward some have Clinton. so some distance as beating John McCain, seem on the US. the rustic is rooted in sexism and racism. To have a non Anglo president is unprecedented, and whether there are die difficult Democratics which will flow to the polls there purely may well be greater die difficult those that have faith basically a male is greater healthful for the activity. An Anglo male. Obama has his race against him which you would be able to still think of could help unify the rustic, purely as Clinton's gender. Sterotypes and different falsehoods could desire to be settled beforehand, for my area, those 2 applicants could have any hazard at defeating McCain in a widely used election.
