I'm not sure when the iceman was discovered, but I know I am fairly sure he got his start in Texas with the ABA.

I don't know if he was still with San Antonio, when the Spurs went from the ABA to the NBA. But I recall that while he was in San Antonio, he came to be known as the "Iceman."
He went on to play with other teams, but always stayed beloved to this city.

I'm not sure how old the Iceman is, but I'm fairly sure he over 50.

1. he was discovered on september 19th 1991 on Similaun in the Ötzi alps by two german tourists from Nuremburg, Helmut and Erika Simon.

2. he was apparently 46 when he died, and is 5300 years old. he was from the copper period.
