Im an 18 year old female and not to long ago I had really bad allergies, so i went to my doctor and he gave me an antibiotic called bactrim. About two days later I noticed I small white patch in the back my throat, not all over it just one small patch, it didnt hurt, and my tounge is perfectly pink and normal. It freaked me out because I looked it up on the net and it said people with HIV normaly get it ! And i was wondering if this antibiotic could cause this. I heard before that antibiotics cause alot of thrush and yeast infections cause it kills off the good bactria! Should I be freaked out or what. Last year I did a CBC test and my test came back normal. My doctors say I worry to much and that Im a hyprocondriac .Other then that I feel fine. SHould I be feaked out or no ?

Chill!! A small white patch in the back of the throat doesn't have to mean anything. If you have thrush, your mouth should be red and irritated. Yes antibiotics can cause thrush and yeast infections, but usually not in a couple of days. A CBC won't tell you if you are HIV positive. Have you ever had unprotected sex? Have you ever used IV drugs? Were you given a blood transfusion anytime before 1985 (I believe that's the correct year).? If you have answered yes to any of these questions, then go get tested to ease your mind. But I highly doubt it is anything serious.
Could be a sign of strep throat, in which case the antibiotic should take care of it. It could be a VERY TINY piece of food that got caught in the skin of the back of your throat - this can irritate and cause white patches in the back of the throat. It will work itself out. If you've had sinus problems, it could be irritation from drainage, or irritation in general.
I suggest if you are so concerned about your health, then you should learn more about the tests you take and what they are for. CBC is usually to check for infection or signs of anemia, they use it for other diagnostics, but again, not to check for STD's. So again, no need to freak out. Quit looking symptoms up on the net, it will only make you freak out more.

Your question is confusing, since antibiotics are NOT given for allergies.

CBC counts the blood cells and computes a ratio.

Thrush is a fungal infection and can be caused by antibiotics. Thrush is common in infants and people with long term/high dose antibiotic treatments, not just people with HIV.

You have thrush because of the antibiotic. You may also end up with a vaginal yeast infection, if you haven't already. Call your doctor and get a prescription for medication.
People with HIV do get thrush because of a compromised immune system. That doesn't mean that everyone who gets thrush is HIV positive. Don't worry. Get some medicine.

i had oral thrush on my tongue, i gargled with water and peroxide. it didnt taste very well, but it stopped the ain. just bursh your teeth after to make it taste better.

also eating yogurt helped, it had something to do with lack of nutrition. it went away in a few days.
