A doctor has convinced her by saying she has 85per cent chance of dying, so she has kind of been manipulated by fear, I doubt it is that high of a chance, how do they truly know? When you have breast cancer, they don't check the gene, I know because I have survived breast cancer and I have no idea what my gene is. What science is finding out is that genes are ever changing, you can have a gene for diabetes but if you get super fit, that gene seems to go away. Science no longer claims genes are set in stone, they change. I truly think she has been terrified into this action by an outside influence. Yes cancer is terrifying but honestly, I would wait until you actually have cancer and then get the breasts removed. I never had mine removed, nor did anyone even mention that to me. It is a shame she is normalising this drastic treatment and others will follow her lead. The many many surgeries and the time it takes for them to build fake breasts is awful, stretching out your skin with inserted molds that have to be built up over time, bigger and bigger ones, then they have to reconstruct fake nipples that have little to no nerve endings and don't look like or feel like natural nipples....bleh. Breast cancer won't kill you if you get onto it early anyway, that is very rare. It will ONLY kill you if it has been hanging around for a long time like 10 years (stage 4) and has spread to your organs etc, I assume she could get regular mammograms. When I felt my lump, it was only stage 1 and very easy to feel it on the boob. My chance of dying was almost nonexistant because it was found in stage 1. Her fears are just not correct as she might not have those facts. She has not been given correct facts. If I get scared I can get a mammogram at any time to make sure. I do live in fear of it returning, that is for sure, but having breasts removed is too drastic and unnecessary. Even if it did return, I would still try to keep my breasts because they still look and feel great, it wasn't that bad except for the fear, which is terrible. And I never did the treatments, you don't have to go through that if you don't want to, esp when the cancer was removed in a small 20 minute operation.
