okay, well my mom has always acted uncomfortable/nervous when talking about my birth, and never would go into detail like she did with my siblings births so i had an underlying worry that i was adopted or something. so one day as my mom was talking about how when my brother was born and she didnt like the docter and i asked her about my birth my mom just simply told me "it was fine" but i kept on pestering her despite her attempants to change the subject. SO finally she said "I dont remember! it was like i was in a trance, i dont remember the nurses faces or the doctor all i remembered was when i held you in my arms" I had a feeling that she didnt feel anything either (pain or anything) Also she said what surprised the nurses the most was that i was born with Brown eyes, not blue. I dont know somehow i have a feeling that my mothers trance and my uncommon baby brown eyes are related somehow? anyways i stopped pestering her after that, obviously the trance thing made her wary.Anyways

(Thats the story) So i was born with Brown eyes, is that uncommon? or normal? my mom says its VERY uncommon?! If so how could i be bor with brown eyes? just a gene defect or soemthing? i did this lab in science dealing with genes and almost all of y genes are recessive, could that have something to do with it?!

Anyways yeah i was just wonderin if that was normal (Im Cacasusain or white) cause my mom made a big deal out of it

It is very rare for Caucasian children to have brown eyes at birth, because they don't have enough melanin and eye colour usually changes by age 3, however, children from other races (East Asian, Native American, African) usually have brown eyes. Are any of your ancestors of East Asian, Native American or African descent.
Blue is recessive. To have blue eyes your have 2 Blue genes so, if most of your genes are regressive, this should have anything to do with your having brown eyes at birth. Although brown eyes at birth is rare for Caucasian children, I have heard of such cases before. As for our mother being in a trance, it may have been a traumatic situation, in which cases the brain often wipes out the memory. I don't think you need to worry too much but if you want to know more I suggest consulting a doctor. Do you know anything else about your birth which might have contributed e.g. premature or late birth.

Both my parents have blue eyes. I found out last weekend I was actually born with brown eyes. My mum said everyone commented " look at her eyes". She didn't think anything wrong until she asked the midwife who commented that it was unusual for a baby to be born with brown eyes. As for being adopted do you look like any of your siblings or your parents apart from having brown eyes. I don't really look like my parents but you can tell my brother and sister are related!Apparently my cousin has the same brown eyes!

For white babies, it is extremely rare to be born with anything other than blue eyes...and the eye color may change later. In other races babies are commonly born with brown eyes. Maybe there are other races in your family tree.... It could be fun to do a little research. Whatever the case, you are unique.
Maybe you could write a short story about your birth... making up the facts your mother is leaving out. If you share the 'story' with her showing all your concerns and fears, she may be more motivated to set the record straight and tell you what really happened.

A lot of babies are born with blue eyes and they change colors as they get older. I was born with blue eyes and they are now green. But to be born with brown eyes it NOT something abnormal. All of these people saying that if your parents both have blue eyes you should be worried are just plain ignorant. If ANYONE in your family has ever had brown eyes, you can have them when you're born. Traits from any family member can be passed down and the child born could end up having it. There is nothing to worry about.

It's not that uncommon, four of my six children had brown eyes right from birth.
Your mothers behaviour could indicate that she had a difficult pregnancy and possibly pre and post natal depression, it's not certain that you were adopted. The fact that she was able to tell you that you had brown eyes from birth indicates that (if she's telling the truth) you were born to her, not another woman.

I think you were an illegal adoption. Still happens today even in the US. It is not at all uncommon for a baby to be born with brown eyes. I was as was my son. However, your mother's behavior is what indicates to me that something is up.

Hi,
I don't think you should worry too much because you have brown eyes. The fact is you have a parent and siblings who love you and still want to take care of you. The makeup of an indivdual always depend largely on the genes that was passes to them. Somethimes it generated from not your immediate parents but from your great great ancestors.
Thank you.
Leon.

First and foremost, do both your parents have blue eyes? I don't remember reading anything about your mother (or father) having blue eyes. If BOTH your parents had light eyes (green or blue) then it would be "strange" for you to have brown eyes. On the other hand, if one or both of your parents have brown eyes it's what is expected. I hope that helps.

uh im pretty sure brown eyes are normal, why wouldnt they be?
If like all ur family has blue eyes and ur the only one with brown eyes, then thats something to think about.
blue eyes are bb and if you have Bb youd have brown eyes as well as BB, but if both of your parents have blue eyes bb, theres not really a chance that you could not have blue eyes.
but thats just science.
im sure that brown eyes might be possible.
dont freak out, just ask ur mom directly abou it.

Try this test...
http://museum.thetech.org/ugenetics/eyeCalc/eyecalculator.html
All you do is fill in the color of your parents and siblings eyes and it gives you the chances of what color your eyes should be :)
