Can hcg levels be detected this early?

Yes, they can for some people. But I emphasize some. A pregnancy test reads pregnant when there is a high enough HCG level for it to detect. For some women, this isn't until a month after sex or even later, but for some it could be a just several days after conception.
If you're concerned or excitedly wanting to know, go ahead and take the test - But be sure to take another one later if this one says negative. You generally buy them in two packs where I live so that shouldn't be a problem :)

with some women, yes, others no. It depends on your own personal body chemistry. I never get a positive until I am almost a week late, but other women get them 2-3 days before they expect a period.
