If you have the real love in your heart, then you want to make it legal & make the commitment of marriage. Marriage bring 2 people together as one in life & spirit. Marriage might be more religious than you might be is why you don't understand.

First of all, you've got a very pejorative view of marriage. That "legal signed document" you seem to have issues with is nothing more than a piece of paper; however...people who really love one another and who don't have some aversion to the notion of commitment have no problem with a public confirmation of their love for one another.

You build the relationship FIRST. You get to know one another and discuss all the issues that are important to each of you.

When you decide that you're compatible enough to sustain a long term relationship, when you decide that you both have enough emotional maturity and sense of forgiveness, THEN and only then do you decide to make your relationship "formal."

Marriage may be a "ritual," but the true meaning of it comes from the heart...the same place that the true love came from.

If you love someone, you should commit to them. Marriage is not just about the paper.

I'm Catholic. In order to have a family (by church terms) I would have to get married. You can't have children outside of marriage. Marriage is the unity of two people into one. It's a commitment that you make in front of God and your family.

Marriage in ancient times, was never about a piece of paper. In today's society, it is due to legal rights w/ children, money, houses, property, insurance, etc.

However, the root of marriage was always in religion. That's why it's considered sacred.

Whether you are religious or not. Getting married is a sign that you are committed to the other person. If you don't want to marry someone, but continue to date them for years and years; it's basically saying you aren't sure you will really be in the relationship forever.

It's easy to walk away from a long-term relationship. However, waking away from marriage involves A LOT more.

IF your married , then you committed yourself to the person you married.

Real love is marriage , committment , understanding , trust , love , lust , romance , comfortability.

If your married and a new person comes along thats NOT real love its lust and grief for what you feel you have lost when you married your spouse and not felt since how ever long after the vow's.

Learn real love before thinking you have it and if it isnt love dont settle and marry just for the sake of a big white dress , a huge wedding reception to rub in your friends faces and a honeymoon to rub in as well.

Marriage comes from the love within the heart. Actions from the heart speak louder than words from the heart.

No, you've got it wrong. Real love involves the 'actions' that show how much you care by going before God and State to declare your level of committment. It's a binding act that shows how much that person means to you. If you have real love, you will want to have marriage in order to show your respect for that person. Otherwise all you have are words, and let me tell you, actions speak much louder than words.

I don't either...I personally have better relationships without that piece of paper. I don't know who said that a piece of paper gives me permission to be in love.. It really should be done away with .

that little piece of paper protects you .. like when one leaves.. and the other is left with all the bills that both of you make.. it makes them legally responsible for half.. on the down side if you own a home they get half..but i am with on on this one.. been there ..done that .. got the t shirt..lol
