It really depends on the vehicle, and it's previous owner(s). If the vehicle was maintained well and not driven hard, it will last a long time. If it wasn't maintained well, and/or was driven hard, then it won't usually last as long.
If you buy it, make sure the timing belt has been changed recently, if not, it is due and needs to be done. Don't just take their word for it, if they have no receipt for the work, assume it hasn't been done and still needs it.
There may be some minor problems with the higher miles, but if it's been well taken care of, there shouldn't be any major problems for awhile as long as you keep taking care of it too.
To know if it was maintained well, they should have receipts for oil changes and any other work that was done to it, or if they did it themselves, they should have receipts for the parts to do the work. Without receipts, you only have their word, which isn't much these days.
It boils down to how you feel about buying it. If you have any seeds of doubt, then wait until you find something else that you're more comfortable with. Don't buy it if you're not comfortable with it, trust your gut instincts.
