Free speech is only a good thing when it is tempered with the truth. Without regard for the truth, free speech becomes fraud. People used to understand that free speech was a freedom to be respected and appreciated, not abused. We have lost sight of the reasons behind the liberties we are guaranteed by the Constitution.

I completely believe in the freedom of speech and that it is one of the most important parts of the foundations of our democracy. I also believe that people should also take responsibility for their speech. Everything spoken and heard has consequences. I think I will be staying right here in the U.S.A.

It's impossible to "abuse" free speech. Unless you violate laws that impose certain restrictions on language (libel, etc) - abuse is clearly in the mind of the "offended".
