I went to a football game today. people where cheering, talking, just whatever. Than they asked everyone to stand for the national anthem. So of course most people stood, took their hats off and where quiet, but there where a group of people who where laughing, joking around and pretty much making a bunch of noise. I was taught that when the anthem is being played that you be respectful? whats your take on it? thanks!

I guess the only positive thing I can say about their behavior is that we live in a country where they won't go to prison for what they did.
Then I would have to say that yes, I find it very offensive that soldiers, sailors, marines and air force people are risking their very lives for their right to lollygag around instead of showing some respect for this country and the sacrifices of those who died making it free.

thats quite disrespectful. some religious groups won't stand during an anthem, because they reserve that respect for God only. but i suspect thats not why that group didn't stand. at the very least, they should shut up!

if you want to be respectful, fine
if you dont respect the nation, or just dont care about the national anthem, that too is ok

yes. i find it disrespectful. i am in marching band (colorguard) and when the band is playing the anthem, we stand completly still, completly quiet, and completly serious. it bothers me when there is some random group of kids messing around during something so serious.

Maybe it wasn't their national anthem.
By football I'm assuming you mean American football.
You wan't to try an international "proper" football game .......... in some countries people chant, jeer, whistle etc etc through the other nations anthem to try to drown it out
