Why does it take $40k bonuses and lower standards to simply meet the recruitment goals? Why aren't neo-cons signing up by the tens of thousands to fight in Iraq? There are 300 million US citizens. Where have all the neo-cons gone? Just need a million or so to go to Iraq and straiten the place out.

Too busy on YA to sign up?

Mel (below) This does not address the question. Neo-cons talk all of this bravado stuff, yet the military today has to bribe people to join. Where are the neo-cons?

This is beneath you Chi guy, you are sounding like that "insecure american" guy who keeps getting his account deleted. The suggestion that we can't support military action without participating in it, is ludicrous. First, not all are up to military standards. Next, a draft or volunteer push isn't what is needed, experienced military personnel with proper training are far more important. I don't want just anyone in this country fighting in Iraq. Finally, I can only use myself as an example, I'm 37 and a diabetic, the military isn't exactly actively pursuing me and wouldn't accept me if I enlisted.

Well one way to get recruiting goals is to clean out Us prisons by telling prisoners they can have there sentences reduced by serving time in the service and if they mess up and get the boot by the service for anything other than honorable discharge they go straight to jail and finish the time fully

the yank defense force has met the numerical aims mandatory. even although the Democrats tried to initiate the draft lower back. basically a number of hundred thousand volunteers are mandatory , not the thousands and thousands a draft could furnish.

It's says something about the moral hypocrisy of the right when the DoD is forced to entice low-income kids fresh out of high school into military service with such extravagant bonuses.

I beg to differ with you, but the standards have actually gone up. The recruiting numbers ARE being met by the way, you may want to get up to speed on recruiting numbers. I've already served my time and at 51, I'm a little to old.

I served.

My sons are serving.

You ran away...letting your Dems vote to send our military into harms way, then voting to run when things got hard.

Probably the same reason that Democrats can't get sane people to run for President. They off making better money somewhere else.
