In my opinion, no woman who is qualified for the position has ever been a candidate. There is no reason why a qualified candidate can't be a woman. It just hasn't happened yet. The other reason is that we are a country that is very resistant to change. A female president would be such a drastic departure from what we are accustomed to that a lot of political analysts say America just hasn't been ready for it. I like the fact that a woman is being accepted as a candidate for '08. Unfortunately, it's Hillary Clinton.

In a word, "Politics". If you recall American history, women have not been liberated to such extremes in politics, but as time progresses, so does the opportunity (ie Hilary Clinton). Now that sounds good in theory, but will it happen? It depends on far more than the peoples vote. In another word, "Corruption". Maybe when women become members of things like the Skull and Bones Society, they will have been liberated enough for the "good old boys" to give them a chance.

Women have only had the vote since 1919. Women didn't get more equal rights until the 60 early 70's. The only one running right now, I wouldn't vote for even if I had a gun to my head, so when a qualified candidate comes forward that believes in the same things that I do, then and only then will I cast my vote for them.

I'd vote for Elizabeth Dole. I'd strongly prefer not to vote for Hillary Clinton.

It isn't the 'woman' thing but the 'individual' thing.

Didn't you get the memo? Only rich, white, land owning males can become President... Or at least, that's how some people want to keep things.
