I almost died once, gun shot wound. I remember everyone was screaming and I felt weak. It was so loud then all of a sudden the noise started fading away and when I looked around everything was turning black. That's when I knew I was dying and I just did my best to stay awake and I "came back". Everything was noisy again and I could see again.

I think death is blank, dark, and nothing. It's the end of life.

I don't know for sure but ...

years ago I learned and used a VERY deep meditation technique.

I had VERY dramatic visualizations (think like hallucinations) ending in going into a warm comfortable brilliant white tunnel.

A few years after this experience I met a woman that was pronounced clinically dead TWICE. She started telling me what it was like and I started completing her sentences. She said, "You've been there".

All I can say is I don't fear death (just the pain that may accompany getting there) and anger some people because I don't have a normal reaction when people die. I think they've gone somewhere really nice.

The tunnel was warm. welcoming and had the most intense white light at the end that kept coming closer until it was engulfing. It was wonderful

Death in many countries is celebrated and in special days of the years death of long lost relatives are celebrated with fan fare .... we should do the same ... death is just as important as birth , is part of the life cycle , of all nature . The death experience affects the remaining living for the loss we feel as our loved one will never again be seen , but for the dead is over the brain cell are dead stop working ,all knowledge in those sells are gone for ever , BUT not the soul , the soul is what will continue , the soul is the accumulation of all the knowledge , experiences , love , happenings , and it will reincarnate into a new body , this new body or baby's brain will over power the souls memory when receiving all the new information of a new life , and this new life with it's entire life will accumulate again this soul knowledge , and repeat the cycle many times over perhaps into thousands of years ... once this soul is mature with all this life's experiences it will stop returning into a human body and naturally become a Angel if you will or a helping guide to a new soul , and this is needed as we are exponentially expanding in the human population and all of us are predestined in this world to accomplish our destinies , what ever the destiny is ... death is an important part of humans because we need the souls of each of us .
There is a good reason we can't return or the soul cant return from death and is becouse in most conditions once the brain stops to resive oxigen and blood circulation the brain starts to deteriorate to a point that brain death is over, the body is useless, to be able for the soul to return , consecuently no news form the after death ...

Death looks like what I had for dinner! Seriously though, many people have had so-called " out of body experiences ", in situations of acute trama even to the point of a momentary clinical death. Technically these do suggest some aspect of life after death and String Theory may suggest that what is going on is that at death we may in fact be transcending to another dimentional level. thus the person who returns to this life may have not been evolved enough or too eveolved to sustain the other state of dimentions and so revived in this one.

According to a book I've been reading, there is life after life. Or rather a continuation of your existence. The facade you are now falls away and reveals the real you: a conscious form of energy, ever vibrating wave of frequencies. I guess we revert back to a domain of music, an ocean of colorful frequencies. Yet why is there the physical? It is the thought of the consciousness that creates it's existence here. Thus, with thought there is the physical. And so, the consciousness is reborn again into another body. To once again live, learn and evolve. That is our purpose.

I know some who have had the experience which you describe.

My experience as a nurse has brought me to the presence of death many times. I can give you a physical description of death, but I don't believe that is what you're looking for here.

None of the people whose deaths I witnessed "came back" from death with a story to tell.

A lot like life without the moving.

For those of us who don't believe in the afterlife, they say that the flashes of light or "walking down the tunnel" you see before you die is just a reaction from the brain shutting down.

I guess there's only one way to really find out, though.

Death is nothingness. An empty void. Near death experiences are just chemical reactions in an altered brain.
