After looking at some questions regarding the Rolling Stones, I realized that there's a lotta people who hate the Rolling Stones. So for those who hate/dislike them, why don't you like them?

And please, this is more for people who have a least a bit of intelligence. Please don't say: "Cuz they suck" or anything related. I want real reasons.

Wow, this was not the kind of group I expected to get. Maybe I should've asked "Why do so many people like the Rolling Stones?".

I don't hate them I just think they were overrated and not my style. People will say they are better than bands like The Who which I will totally disagree with. I enjoy some of their more famous songs like Jumpin Jack Flash, Satisfaction, or Sympathy for the devil. But their music does not appeal to me especially Mick Jaggers voice and the way he acts on stage is creepy.

I would say in the past that I disliked them because I don't tend to like the radio singles. For example, "Street Fighting Man" and "Sympathy for the Devil" do NOTHING for me. They just don't have a solid enough "singalong" hook for my taste.

Lately though I've been listening to the albums and I'm discovering I like a lot of the stuff that WASN'T singles. "No Expectations", "Dear Doctor", and "Connection" come to mind here.

At this point, I'd call myself a "moderate" fan who's probably going to pick up a copy of STICKY FINGERS.

I love them. Have their 40 licks dvd and all of that. I'm a guitarist and love playing their music.

What I don't like is emo music. It's a disgrace to music. I don't mind country, or rap, or the such. But yeah.... I could give you reasons about why I dislike the emo/pop scene... real ones.. but the stones have skill. And they get look like they're permanently stoned.

Some people perceive them as washed up and past their prime. Many think that they no longer function as an innovative group and they should just break up already.

Another point of hatred is that some Beatles fans also assume that the competition that the bands enjoyed during the 60s is still continuing. They think that they have to choose between the bands as which one is their favorite.

I don't hate them, but they annoy me sometimes because you can't even look at their web site without paying, and 40 Licks is really expensive, and it was kind of mean of them to only let one major chain an no one else carry the box set they released a few years ago. But there are my second favorite band ever; no question they are great.

You will see celebrities often make fun of Mick Jagger or Keith Richards alot. Notice how no musician makes fun of the Stones' music? When you've been around longer than 40 years, and can still sellout stadiums, THEN you have earned the right to make fun of them.

Personally, I like them. But some people don't like them because of what they represent or the fact that they have been around so long. (the longer a band is around the more criticism they will recieve.)
