I found out I can let my ipod be my alarm with music to wake me, but I have to leave on my small accurian speakers which are therefore idle but plugged in and turned on overnight. So, I'm not sure if that uses any appreciable amount of electricity or just a few pennies worth? Anyone know?

Speakers when idle use so little power, that you will use more electricity just to get up and use the bathroom and turning on the light. With no sound coming from them, we are talking in the < $0.01 per month range. True the back of the power supply adapter will give you a power rating, but that is for 100% full load, blasting them as hard as they go. Idling, they use very little. In a perfect world it would be Zero !!, but in reality, the P/S draws only a trickle current. Most equipment used to measure power draw would not even be able to tell you how much.

You can look on the back of the speakers and it will tell you how much wattage they consume, but I suspect it will be a negligible amount.
