So what? They're both works of fiction, it just so happens that one is based upon the other. And, movies change the plots of books they are based on, all the time.

Deal with it.

I think so. In the book something bad happens, right? Doesn't she have to go back to Kansas?

Some creative license was taken as it so often is in movies.
