I've never noticed that, but be thankful that it's not the cliched dumb blonde, like in many sitcoms.

Its out of control political correctness. I have seen many commercial about the dumb white guy lambasted by the female and that one black guy. So in this age of multiculturalism where all are equal, it would appear that that is false. Not as long as commercials portray white males as being the stupid ones. Although I will admit, I have seen a commercial here and there with the dumb white female.

It's not just commercials. Some one else posted a few sitcoms. Look at "King of Queens" the main character, A white guy has a black best friend that is much smarter than he is and a Hispanic wife that is always having to get him out of trouble because of something stupid he done.
It is currently socially acceptable to belittle white men but no other group.

I have to agree with the_ivy_vine. I see many different types of people on tv represented as idiots, whether it's a feature show or commercial, , from Cuba Gooding's (black guy) Matt Damon rip off of amiration for Michael Jodan, to geeky looking white housewives, and big and dumb white and black football players and Asians who can't sing, etc... The list goes on and on... It's not just fat white guys
Most think that fat people are repulsive looking, regardless of color, so it seems like something that is universally persmissable to discredit and disparage.

Because if it was anyone else, all of America would be in an up roar....The overweight white male....(reps a dad or husband) could really careless if they are made fun of, they would probably even laugh....we've become a country, or world, that whines about being offend by EVERYTHING!!! It's pathetic how we act like we welcome everyone, but then we also welcome the freedom to ***** about our "feelings being hurt".....I say, "Suck it up already!" I'm part Polish, and as a kid I heard every Polish Joke there was.......No body went to court over my feelings.....

Because the makers of TV commercials are concerned of offending other races and don't like to use other stereotypes.

AND the dumbest, moet irritating commercial to me is the Geico / caveman commercials. Marketing moguls must be running out of ideas or their drugs are wearing off

It's an easy target that won't upset any ethnic groups. I find it offensive too. It would be such a better world if we could just be kind to each other - all differences allowed. Have a nice day, and be kind. It's so much easier to help, than hurt.

I don't believe that. Every race is represented on TV commercials. And many are ignorant to portray the "simple folk" marketing strategy.

Same reason that American Indians are either vicious or stupid in the western movies.
There are some people that society, including the NAACP feel it is acceptable to belittle.

If you watched tv in other countries, they make fun of their own kind. Here, white guys aren't as sensitive to insults like minorities are.
