I remember OTHER people having TVs with no remote, but we always had one.

The 1st TV I remember was our RCA. It had an early remote with only 6 buttons.

1. Power
2. Mute
3. Channel Up
4. Channel Down
5. Volume Up
6. Volume Down

This setup worked fine when we only had an antenna and there were only 8 channels. When we got cable and there were 60+ channels, it was annoying to have to flip through so many channels to get to the one you wanted.

Yep, and we had a black and white console tv, with an antenna on the roof. Some times the picture would go fuzzy, and I would jump up and down on the floor to get it to come back in. I think we could get 4 channels.

Yes. I would direct my kids to change channels for me. Back then, we had a box for the cable that had a box with a lever that went to either A or B to bring in different channels, and my kids remember the A-B box. (And they're now 31 and 26.)

When I was growing up, I was my father's remote. I can even remembered when MTV didn't have commercials!
