Yes they work (they stopped my daughter's bad dreams). A proper on should have a 'spider' on the web somewhere to 'eat' the nightmares and keep the web clean.
I also made a sachet of Amythest stone, Sea Salt, Lavender, Rosepetals and Chamomile that slips under her pillow.

Bad dreams are caught in the spiral web and burned away in the morning sun. The good dream you will have finds its way to the center of the spiral and flies thru the open circle to you. Other good dreams meant for you will hide from the sun in the Dreamcatcher's feathers until needed.
Every once in a while a bad dream flies directly through the open circle.

They work better when you make them yourself. Even if they turn out a little crappy or 'not as good' as one you'd buy they still work better because you are concentrating on what it is for and that energy is going into the construction of it. I have used purchased dream catchers that were basically just pretty things that hung around my room. When I made my own I felt that it actually worked. It wasn't as professional looking but it seemed to work much better.

i think belief matters in this case. if you believe in such things then the dream catcher is that which protects our spirit from mid night wanderings, not so much a catcher as a protector. such wanderings are ritualistic too, they how ever are not accidental, hence the need for a dream catcher. as for bad dreams their is only a perception of such a thing. challenging dreams (bad dreams) are the means of spirit growth, learning off self and the practise of coping with fears.. sweet dreams...

the idea behind it is that the bad dreams get caught in the outside but the good dreams go through the middle. I think they do work cause the only time i have nightmares is when i sleep without it

I also Have a dream catcher above my bed and the tag said basically the threads tangle the bad dreams and burn them when the morning sun arises and and the feathers let the good dreams flow to your soul I have heard of burning it and getting a new one but is there and broken threads in the weaving? According to my dream catchers legend, maybe it not tangling the bad dreams. I wish thee Best of luck to you and your children.

No, it's a myth.
An American Indian magic spider-web inside a sacred circle. They're suppose to block bad dreams but allow good dreams to pass through the center.

Only works if it was made by an American Indian. Otherwise it will stop working and dump all the bad dreams at one time.
Very nasty when that happens.
