I think people feel the names are easily confused.
I worked with a girl named Hattie and my name is Patti. Over the phone the names really sound alike.
However if the names rhyme but don't sound too much alike I think it would be fine.
I know two older German woman who are twins. Their names are Irma and Erna. I can hear the difference very easily between those two names.

My brother and I are 15 months apart and had rhyming nicknames and always hated it. We were never separate. Always "Kristy and Rusty", never one or the other. We were already close in age, had classes together, had all the same friends, had to share Christmas presents and so on, so the rhyming names just perpetuated the idea that we were a package. I would actually have teachers, teachers Im sure knew better, that would say "Well, Kristy...Rusty gets all A's in math, why cant you?" and he would of course get "Rusty, you know Kristy does so well in English, why dont you?"
We were treated like clones, not like two different kinds. If it was like that for us, being more than a year apart, I cant imagine what it is like for twins, particularly identical twins.
Having different names makes it easier for people to see the twins, or siblings as individuals.

Because the twins hate them. Save the rhyming names for the dogs.

I think it is just personal preference. Some people think it is too "cutesy". My husband is an identical twin and their names are Shawn and Justin but I have seen plenty of twin names that go very well together. I recently had a baby girl and I thought it would be cute (if she was a twin) to name them Madison and Madalyn. I don't know about rhyming but I think same first letters or something like that is nice...alot of people do that with their kids that aren't even twins. Like my sister and I for instance....my name is April and her name is Autumn.

Well, mainly because sometimes twins wanna be independent people like everyone else, not stuck forever known as cute twins. Maybe nice as babies, but when you're 32 and have a life, you don't wanna be one of the cutsey rhymed twins. How would you feel as a rhymed twin then?

My sister in law has two sets of girl twins & she didn't have their names rhyme. It just doesn't seem to be done that much anymore. But, when & if you do have twins, don't let that stop you. What you name your kids is your own business. :-)

I think everyone has their own reasons, but I personally wouldn't use them because they sound so much alike. Twins already look alot alike, and will probally go through alot of their younger years being dressed the same by their parents. I'd like to send my kids out with a bit more individuality to their names. Twin names are nice when then compliment each other, but almost identical sounding names are pushing it abit far.

It has been way overdone. Plus, it gets confusing when the names rhyme. It really depends on the mother's preference, though. There are still many people that name their children rhyming names.

I personally like rhyming twin names and if I were to have twins, I would give them similar names. Who cares what other people think... if you like it, then do it. I think its cute. Like if it were a boy and girl I think Holden and Aldyn would be really cute. Eh, do what you want.

I would never name my twins similar names. Twins have thier own identity and it needs to be there. Just because they are born at the same time, doesn't mean they are the same preson. They are not!!
