It depends on who you are talking about.

Many people around the world have a problem with America in general, or Americans as a group -- because Americans are perceived to be arrogant and hypocritical, and to act in ways that are selfish with no regard for harm to others.

Many people inside America have a problem with America -- specifically the American govt -- because our politicians have let us down. They have sold us out to special interests, and regularly abuse their power for their own selfish agendas.

Which people? I think it's probably a good idea to acknowledge that different people across the world have different sets of "problems" with the U.S. I mean, even breaking it down geographically might be a good idea.

Also, it's probably a good idea to acknowledge that not all nations have problems with the U.S. I was just travelling through some parts of Eastern Europe and some people seemed to be quite keen on the U.S.

right, let's see -
you make a mountain out of a molehole - america is just another country but you make it seem like it's the centre of the universe, it's ran by an idiot who can't pronounce "nucleur" properly, don't care about any other nation other than their own, don't care about culture when they don't even have one themselves, think they're free when it's plain obvious that you're not - a person can't even say "abortion" without backlash, claim to be pro-life when they go off bombing other places, they're too proud about nothing, don't care about anyone who's hardly got any $$$, play mind games with the world, blame their allies when things go wrong during wars, the government's brainwashing them yet they do nothing, they even salute the flag at school for f-ck's sake!
need i go on?!?!

I don't think it's the people they have a problem with. It's that arrogant cowboy in the White House and all his cronies that other countries don't like.

If it's because of Bush as some have said, I wonder what their problem with us was before Bush was in the Whitehouse. Ever lived outside the USA? They had a problem with us before Bush. Maybe it's not us. Maybe it's that they're bigots.

Wow, those are some stereotypes you've got there, coragryph. Kind of makes you sound like a stereotyping bigot.
