I asked in the BABY NAMES section how Candy & Brandy sound as twins, & many people say our names sound like strippers! I never thought I'd receive such negative answers on their opinions of our names. Those are our real names. People thought our names sounded horrible & silly.

It's NOT our fault our mom named us that. & they think I'm the parent expecting twins to name them that. I'm not even close to pregnant!

Ignore them.....A name is a name is a name. You are NOT what your name is. Your name is who you are! People are not always right, you know. I love your questions so there is hope for you and your name!! ;)

I like both names personally. It is not as if twins are spoken about together constantly. Your friend's certainly don't say, "my friend, Candy, who has a sister named Brady, and I are going shopping." Your friend would just say, "Candy and I are going shopping." When you are adults, no one uses you and your twins names together (at least not often). I like each name individually. I like the name Candy (and I like candy). I have always been fond of the name Brandy (it was one of my late mother's favorite names).
People who insult other people's names are not even worth thinking about. They are rude, opinionated and inconsiderate. Apparently they know more about strippers than the rest of us do. I wasn't aware strippers had specific names.

I like your names. And no, they don't make people think they are stripper names, unless the person has that kind of mind set. I personally love the name Brandy. It sounds warm and soothing, even has a song named after it. Candy is just sweet.
Nevermind what other people think. They are just fine.

Thats because they are those types of names from what people know of them. My aunt's name is Candy and she's a bad egg... very bad. So i can't say i've met any nice, unslutty candys. And most brandy's that i've known have been really mean people.
But thats just how people look at it. They take what they see people with those names as and associate them to EVERYBODY with those names. It just shows how our culture today is still flawed.

Considering many of the iresponsible and inconsiderate answers I've seen in Y!A I wouldn't concern myself with the ones you got about the names. Be proud of your names, and forget about the answers you received.
Many times people in here are prone to give an answer they think will incite the Asker, or make the Asker feel bad or guilty. Many times they're just plain mean.
So don't worry. Don't take their answers seriously.

I visit that section now and again; and I am amazed at the incredible "names" women are proposing for their soon-to-be newborns.
Some of these women are so obsessed with inflicting their unique, impossible-to-spell, and impossible-to-pronounce "names" on children, that they get fighting mad when someone comes along and suggests a more "normal" name. I regularly get filleted with thumbs-down every time I comment in that forum.

I named my daughter Claudia and someone said she sounded like a Russian Whore! This about a baby!!!!

Since you asked the question, you can't very well be upset about the responses you got. If you only wanted 'Aw, how cute" then you came to the wrong place. If you're a newbie, and have never read the answers to other people's questions, then you better toughen up quick, kid, because you can't expect everyone in the world to play nice all the time. If you just had to ask that question, you must think there's something wrong with your names yourself.

those people that said that are lame those names rock especially because my name is brandie and i have a friend name candace that people call candy so yeah..the people saying that just need to be quiet you are obviously kooler than they are for haveing those names!!
