I'm a Michigan fan, so I will say it. Appalachian State flat out outplayed the Wolverines today. Michigan was overconfident and cocky going into this game to say the least.
Lloyd Carr should be done, if he can't beat the Buckeyes, win a bowl game, or beat Appalachian State, he shouldn't be coaching a program as prestigious as Michigan.

As an Ohio State fan there was nothing more satisfying (other than Ohio State beating them) than seeing Michigan go down to the likes of Appalachian State, scheduled as a walkover "practice" game.

Poor special teams play, too many turnovers, two many offensive mistakes, a poor defensive effort, too many excuses and one fired up underdog, is how Michigan lost. My hats off to Appalachian State.
A little humility never hurt anyone, but as a life long Michigan fan, and current student at Michigan, this has got to be the most humiliating moment in the school's football history. Today's loss was the equivalent of the Lions loosing to a high school team. Well OK we know a lot of high school teams that would beat the Lions, bad example. The unwritten rule of playing a patsy in your first game was ignored, and Michigan lost. I wish I could say "it happens", but I think this was the first time a top ten team lost to a division 1AA school in it's home opener. EVER!
When Michigan beats Ohio State this year, and takes the big ten title, no one will remember this game. Appalachian State deserves nothing but respect, they put their school on the map and beat a perennial college powerhouse. Great game on their part, no excuses for my Wolverines, they got it handed to them. They want to fire Carr right now in Ann Arbor, but that's just shock, and if Oregon beats Michigan next week it still won't be fatal, but if Michigan doesn't pull out of the spin and win the Big Ten Carr might be packing his bags.
Anyone can win and deal with it, but how you handle yourself after a defeat shows the depth of your character. The game itself is meaningless, and Michigan will still win the Big Ten this year. The blogbaba will be at the Big House to watch Ohio State get theirs.
For now, I got to tell you, Appalachian State ranks right up their with the U.S. Olympic Hockey team beating the Russians at Lake Placid, this was a great victory for them and I congratulate them on a job well done. Next week we will see if Oregon can do the same.

Number one reason is Michigan was WAY over rated as is their conference and reason number 2 is App St. is the 2 time defending national champion of their division of football, so they do know how to win a few games. Number 3 is someone forgot to tell App St to lay down and roll over for Michigan. HA HA HA HA HA HA I loved the game. Go APP State.

As other's have stated, App. State is NOT unknown if you have been following 1-AA ball. Sadly they beat my Minutemen (UMass) last year in the 1-AA championship game last year.
Unlike 1-A football, the 1-AA teams don't get set up with easy schedules, creampuff opponents and then get chosen in a poll to play in a championship game. They actually have to win their divisions and then go on to play a playoff schedule. It is MUCH more competative than 1-A.
1-AA may not have the star talent and fat TV contracts, but they know what it takes to win. They know their seasons won't be handed to them. 1-AA is much more exciting.
I hope more 1-AA teams hand the 1-A teams their asses on a platter.

Because Lloyd Carr doesn't want his job anymore. Let's face it. After losing to my Buckeyes five out of the last six years, and now this, he is probably going to be hard pressed to find a job as a janitor in some third rate pee-wee league's locker room.
