I used to be about 268 pounds (before I lost 96 pounds...and NO I did NOT have surgery!) Even though I was on the large size, I wore nice clothing that not only fit me, but were fashionable and stylish. I did not feel the need to wear tight clothes that would make me look ridiculous (not to mention LARGER than I actually was).
I would like to know the following: why do you think you look good in too-tight clothes? You don't! Bellies hanging out, pieces of flab coming out of your tiny t-shirts, tank tops, low-rise pants that do NOT cover your behinds properly...why??? Just tell me why?

Ok, I did NOT mean to stereotype all overweight women! I used the terms "fat/overweight/obese, because some women prefer one term over the other. There are a lot of ladies who call themselves "fat"...a BMI over 25-30 is is considered overweight, and a BMI over 30 is considered obese...I don't mean to offend with the truth.
Also, like I said, I used to be a large woman. I have no problem with ladies who are not size 2's...my question has to do with the reasons behind wearing tight clothes...if you are overweight and don't wear tight clothes, then obviously it's not a question for you, right?? Try not to be so sensitive.

I came across your question, and just wanted to congratulate you on losing so much weight on your own :) I'm not overweight, but a few years ago after having my son I had lots of extra weight to lose (40 pounds). I too always dressed for my size, and I've never understood larger ladies that dress in clothes that are tight. There are clothes out there that are flattering and stylish.
Anyway, congrats again!

That's great you lost the pounds. Then you too know how hard it is to do so. Some individuals don't have the finances to get clothing to fit.. They wear what they have and are able to afford, and this means too while gaining, can't afford to replace . Some wear tight clothes because just as those who have eating disorders see themselves overweight, the opposite is true sometimes regarding those heavier, they don't see themselves as such. and, too Sometimes the soul is lean, the body ain't. Like some feel young 19 ish, and are in 40's. and, then there is the so called style trends.
Weight , extra of , doesn't always come from overeating.. there are some medical reasons.. thyroid, diabetes. and other reasons. One need not assume it is always or take fault or blame for over eating .. I know some on controlled diets, who have gained. One case they found out the person had a mega large tumor .
and, women aren't the only one's with bellies hanging out and rears. I had eating disorders for years and hardly had any "meat " on me . now, body revenge, i call it...... diabetes and an injury and I... don't have to think, I know i am overweight... 124 lbs. I have lots of health problems.. but, my doctor said recently i look 15 years younger than most at my age.. Wow, what would i look like if at my healthy weight?.... I dress stylish, and cover the fat.. i can't stand looking at it either.. I can't wait to get better to exercise!.. Some do it for attention factor, and to annoy others. Sort of rebellion.. of sorts..

I'm a big girl and I don't wear that stuff.I'm with you ,I see too many girls and women wearing too tight clothes for their bodies. They wear low rise jeans that are too tight and then wear a t-shirt that's too tight showing every lump and wrinkle.Ladies there is a difference between form fitting and too tight.Would I love to be able to wear some of the things smaller girls do ,yes I would, but I'm not going to squeeze myself into something that will make me look cheap and larger than I already am.Think about it the TLC show "What Not to Wear" is a huge hit because of this very issue.By the way there's some thinner girls who need to stop squeezing a size 8 into a size 4,it looks just as bad.

You are over-generalizing.
Most women I know don't wear tiny Tshirts, low rise pants. I have seen plenty of so called normal weight people wearing sizes way too small for them.
Unless you are over 5'10", you are considered overweight; if you are under 5'4", you are still in the obese category.

Congrats on your 96 lbs. I have lost 85lbs. and I always wore comfortable clothes also. I am a guy but it applies to everyone. Fat guys like to wear tight shirts because they think tight shirts make them look muscular.

I find this to be a rude question. This is none of your business!!!! Don't sit here and act all high and mighty because people these days are very sensitive about their weight and I think they would appreciate it if you didn't sit here and insult them.If you consider this a serious question, you need to get a life!~ People these days~

OK, so im a BBW and I wear clothes that fit properly and I dont let anything "hang out" unless im in the privacy of my own home. Its not all overweight/fat/obese ladies that are letting everything hang out. Quit being so rude.

I totally agree with your question. I am overweight myself, and I consider it grotesque to see girls/women walking around in shirts that show every roll they have, or every dimple in every place.
II think it goes to society today ... People don't respect themselves, or others, enough to actually put thought into their appearance.
See ya
