I recently purchased 100 GB Segate portable hard disk with USB connection.I have acer laptop with windows XP home. so how to partition the portable hard disk. of course free of cost!

To partition an USB paorable hard drive is the same as partition an internal HDD.
Following is the Step
go Control Panel -> Administrative Tools -> Computer Management -> Disk Management
You will see the physical rep of the harddisk available. This include your USB portable Drive. It will show all the dard drive status. Right click on the drive you want to partition and a popup menu appear. select create partition and follow the est of the instruction. Please remember to format the drive after partition or you will not be able to use it.
