I recently got the most beautiful ficus ever! It has triangle shaped, variegated leaves.

It is looking a bit droopy, probably from the move. However, I really really want this plant to thrive. I think it needs to be repotted. The soil is crusty and doesn't seem good anymore.

What is the best mix of soil and the best light for this plant? I am still somewhat of a novice, and really want to do good by this plant! I do have a ficus elastica that is doing fantastic. But I am nervous, and really don't want to kill this one!

wait!!.... one shock at a time please!!.... moving is going to be hard enuff on the plant without you doubling it by repotting now.....

what I've found so far is that they like to be warm and humid...

Ficus triangularis 'Variegata'
lc: creamy white mottled. Needs a humid greenhouse or conservatory for good health and color.

get that part of it's care taken care of first, see how it reacts, and then look to repotting it in spring, perhaps.... it will need good light and the urge to grow after repotting, not when it's going into it's slow down, it's winter phase.....

good luck with it, it's lovely!!.... I have two different types, but now I want a variegated one!!... *smile*.........

It could be a disease and not bugs! Personaly I would cut as much of the sick branches off (no more than 1/3 of the plant) Pick up some plant vitamin from the local store nothing too potent and be sure to water regularly (dont over water). The sprays are usualy too strong, I'd use a tad bit of dish soap to about a liter of water and that would help with most small insects without being to hard on the ficus>

Ficus do well in a well-drained, peat-based potting soil such as Bachman's Exceloam.

Check the site for other great tips on how to care for the Ficus.
