This is a wonderful campground in Orlando, I have stayed here several times, lots of nice people. So much to do with in walking distance of the campground as well. There pool is open 24 hours, and heated in cooler months. Check it out this place is a must stay.

If you don't belong to any discount camping clubs, try Florida Camp Inn, on US 27 a few miles South of the intersection of US 192 & US 27. Camping price for full hook-ups, 30 Amp electric is $17 plus tax. Phone # (863) 424-2492. There's a nice pool, people are friendly and you're close to the tourist sites, not too close.

KOA's, in the tourist areas tend to be pricey. A check of Ft.Wildernesses pricing shows they have a low of $41, water & electric, to $55, full hook-ups. These prices are good until October 3rd. At that point, prices will rise.

Between Florida SR 50 & US 192, on US 27 is Lake Louisa State Park. This is a Florida state park. If you are a senior citizen from Florida, Georgia or Alabama your camping cost will be $12 per night, otherwise it's $24 for full hook-ups and 50 Amp electric. All reservations are made at: http://www.reserveamerica.com/ As you look through this page, you'll see several state parks in the Orlando area, pick one that you like. Blue Springs is fair. I prefer Silver River, where I volunteer, it's right beside Silver Springs, out of Ocala.

Tropical Palms is a good campground, although it's better sites are pricey and close to this "Open 24 Hours Pool". Too much noise from the kids at midnight. Tropical Palms is part of the Encore network and does offer discounts for attending sales presentations.

Thousand Trails offers three free nights if you attend a sales presentation also. This place is huge, over 500 camp site both 30 and 50 Amp. Two swimming pools, adults only in one of them. If you take the tour mention my name & I'll split my cut with you. Their phone number (800) 723-1217.

Additional thoughts: Where ever you camp in the Orlando area you will pay sales tax on your campsite in addition to a 6-7% tourist tax. This will add 12-14% to your campsite.

All of the other ideas are great. But, since you said North Florida, that is in my neighborhood. I live about two hours due north of Orlando (just north of Gainesville). Near here are world class springs, ideal for tubing, canoeing and one, Ginnie Springs, is known world wide for cave diving. I'm sure you would enjoy them. And, if you want some wildlife (as opposed to having a "wild life"), the Okeefenokee Swamp is just an hour or so away, in south Georgia. This swamp is probably best known for being the headwaters of the Suwannee River.

Many of Florida's State Parks offer camping, as do private campgrounds like KOA. The Ocala National Forest has several campgrounds. If you visit Disney World, I strongly suggest a couple nights at Fort Wilderness (about $50/night) if your budget can absorb it. It is an amazing experience.

The best place for camping is in the Ocala National Park. This park is huge and there are several different camping experience you can encounter to camping with all of the comforts from home to roughing it with nature.

I Can Recommend...
Wekiva Springs State Park (Seminole County)
Moss Park (South East Orange County)
Trimble Park (North West Orange County)
Juniper Springs Recreation Area (Ocala National Forest)
Alexander Springs Recreation Area (Ocala National Forest)
Jetty Park (Cocoa Beach)
Anastasia Island St Park (St Augustine)
Tomoka State Park (Daytona)
Faver Dykes State Park (Daytona)

I have camped at all of them and they are all nice. I think the camping rates at all of them are about $20/night

One of the best places to camp is on Walt Disney World's property. that would be in Fort Wilderness. the have excellent campsites and they are rather reasonable. Also north of Orlando are the Ocala National Forest. I hear it si most excellent for camping but beware of the bears there.

Yes, Disney's Fort Wilderness is awesome. They have camp sites for only $30 and then you are right there for free bus service to all of the Disney attractions. Hope this helps!
