Haha, that's funny. People are answering the question as if you mean the baseball Yankees and not the northern Yankees. But umm, anyway, I'm a yankee, and no, we're not bad. Gotta be proud of where you come from. =) I love where I live (I'm so far upstate in NY that I could ride my bike to the Canadian border).

The rednecks are just upset because the yankees are rich.
But they love them when they come down south to spend some of that money, so long as they don't stay. Then they are damn yankees!

Hey I'm a New Yorker CHUCK S and I most CERTAINLY COUNT.... now, I LOVE being a northerner except for the snow and cold in winter... and I LOVE the New York Yankees they are my favorite team and I agree that George Steinbrenner gave Bernie Williams a VERY BUM DEAL!!!! But as for my boys in the pinstripes---LOVE EM ALL---saw the game this past Tuesday (first one of the SWEEP of the Bo SOX)....!!!!

The main reason why the Yankees are the best (and they are!) is because they can AFFORD the best players. That's it.
Of course, if my baseball-obsessed friend Tucker (who was born in Boston) saw this answer, he would blow me to smithereens and yell, "RED SOX ARE THE BEST! YOU YANKEE TRAITOR!!!" Yeah, he's a die-hard Sox fan...But that's irrelevant.
