I have just started using tampons and i was wondering if you are supposed to feel in it your vagina?

I read alot answers which suggests you shouldn't feel it unless you haven't inserted properly.

After inserted the tampon everytime i moved or coughed it would feel uncomfortable down there, like the tampon is scratching against my insides.

What you think??? Is this normal or i have inserted it incorrectly?????

A lifetime of tampons and I still don't have an easy answer. Sometimes they are uncomfortable. When adjusting doesn't work, remove it and try with a new one, that often works. Super-absorbent ones are the most uncomfortable because they can suck the moisture out of the area and stick to your skin. If you can afford to try buying a few different brands then it can be helpful. It gives you a chance to try something comfortable. They usually have small packages in the drug stores. Free samples below (but you have to wait for delivery).

Some days are bad, women are just more sensitive for a day or even the whole period. As a last resort, a little Vaseline helps but it interferes with absorption. Putting it on the dispenser tube is easiest.

Good luck!

It isn't a problem if you are just aware of a tampon inside you but if it hurts or is uncomfortable than that is Not Normal.

That probably does mean that the tampon is not far enough inside you or that it is the wrong size/absorbency or that you are too dry.

You want to make sure that it really is in far enough first. It needs to be in past your lower vaginal muscles. I know this may seem gross but it shouldn't: you may want to insert your finger so you have a feel for the way you curve.

And you may want to see if you are using the right size for you. Maybe if you switch to a smaller tampon than you won't feel it? Also the shape of different brands of tampon when they fill...maybe you can feel a Tampax but wouldn't feel an OB.

If you find that you can't feel a smaller tampon than that was it. You just have to change it more often and you will want to double up with a pantiliner at least on the first day or 2. You may want to consider using cloth pantiliners which are more healthy for you and less likely to cause accidents.

Hope this helps Good luck :)

If you have inserted it correctly you should never feel it. I dont know what kind of tampons you use but if you are using the one with an applicator... while insterting it hold the cover (not the applicator) at the bottom and then STOP the moment your fingers have touched your vagina and then push the applicator... I started using tampons less than a year ago and I am 25 so I felt the same way at first. It takes a lil bit of practice... now I have no probs ever!

You shouldnt feel it. The only time I have felt them was when I didnt get them in all the way.
This is what I do, normally when I go to the bathroom, I pull my pants to my knees and go. Well I like to put my pants and underwear all the way down to my ankles when its that time of the month. That way I can spread my legs farther apart and get more of a opening. Then when I insert the tampon I insert the applicator all the way until the part where you are grasping it is. And push the other part up. Then if you want you can take a piece of toilet paper and wipe from front to back and if you feel the tampon with the toilet paper in your hand, well, you dont have it in far enough. Take it out and reinsert another one.
If you are brand spanking new to wearing tampons you may feel them at first, but you shouldnt. Especially if you are sitting or coughing, well doing anything you shouldnt feel it.
Good luck and keep trying.

It's been a while since I had a period & used tampons. Thank God I had my Uterus removed for pain & left all the misery of being a woman behind. I still like loving with my husband.
When I used tampons & tried to insert them with the card board tube that came in the package_it never worked. I inserted them by hand & had to straighten them to fit right by my finger. You have to try different things to find what will work for you. Don't give up_all will come together in time.

You've probably put it in wrong. It takes a little practice, but the proper procedure is to aim the tampon at a slight slant toward the small of your back, rather than straight up, and insert it with the help of the applicator. When it is properly placed, you shouldn't be able to feel it at all. Make sure the pull string stays on the outside so you'll be able to remove it easily. When you do take it out, pull the string in the same slanted direction as you inserted it. Good luck!

It sounds like you've inserted it incorrectly. Make sure you're angling your tampon towards the small of your back because the vagina lies flat and it doesn't go up. Also, make sure you've inserted the bigger tube (applicater!) in all the way until the finger-grips are right outside of your vagina before you push in the skinny tube to pop the tampon in. As of what you're describing it sounds as if you only put the tip of the applicater at your vagina's opening and then pushed - that isn't correct. If you're still having problems try putting a little bit of lubricant on the applicater to help it glide in easier. Best of luck!

This happens to me sometimes and I have been using tampons for years.... One problem is that you may not be inserting it correctly; maybe not far enough. The other problem may be that your flow isn't heavy enough for the size of tampon that you are using. You may just need to use a smaller tampon, especially on the first and last days of your cycle. Good luck!

The tampon will shift if you cough or sneeze because your muscles push when you do this. Check your position when you actually insert the tampon . For example, if you usually insert with you are on the toilet, try standing up and placing one leg up on the bowl for deeper insertion. Also try different sizes you may be using ones that are too absorbent for your flow. I can only use Tampons the first two days after that when my flow lightens I have to use smaller ones or a pad. Good Luck!

It could be few things, like putting it wrong, not far enough, or they are not the right size.If you are a virgin you may also be uncomfortable and I would use pads until you are not. I can't believe I am going there, but make sure when you put it in,that you are standing up with your knees bent slightly, then find your hole and push both the top and the bottom simultaneously but do it gently. Not everyone can wear them and if you still have pain doing these things, I would go to the doctor.
