I have noticed within the past few days, loads of really good answers by various posters have just got slammed with masses of thumbs downs. Somebody else has also noticed and noted that in one of their answers. I'm just wondering what gives and if anyone else has become aware of this? It's getting a bit ridiculous especially when you can see that someone has spent time and effort into writing their answer and is correct in what they've put. (And I'm not talking just about myself either). What do you all think?

There does seem to be some angst ridden people out there this week. Some people have posted really good questions and then got reamed by those answering. Not sure what the deal is!

Ibbibud - that's what I thought, an opinion poll or trying to have someone else's answer discluded but over the past week, it's gone nuts like everyone has a trigger finger when it comes to hitting that button.

I don't know...I find this thumbs down thing very discouraging. It is fine if the answer is intentionally awful, but many good answers are given this also. Are people using this feature as an opinion poll? Maybe it is someone who answered but soesn't want the other answers to be considered, so goes through and does it, but some of these questions have so many thumbs down in the answers that it just doesn't make any sense. I always try to give it my best shot when I answer and try not to be knowingly rude or dismissive, so a thumbs down is upsetting. And sometimes I think there are "4" letter words here that get automatic thumbs down...like "whip, spur, crop, bits, train" for example, but then they don't raise a hair in other questions. I'm all for dumping this feature. I don't think it is enhancing a thing.
And gee whiz!!! Here they are again!! Thanks a LOT horse jumper!!

hi Eliza, nicely, I even have not been around plenty at the instant, yet did have of project to leaf by using some Q and As, and not in basic terms observed too much TDs, yet some nasty factor going at right here besides. i are not getting too many thumbs down, yet i think of that the very knowledgeable human beings, like your self, are greater services to it. Jealousy, perhaps??? loss of an open-strategies??? constantly HAVING to be maximum suitable??? (of, path all on the wrongdoer). when I see you very knowledgeable and advantageous regulars getting those thumbs down, i think of "thats in basic terms incorrect", besides the undeniable fact that it does not exchange the widespread of yourselves individually. Its in basic terms an fool, or maybe a pair of idiots. i think of certainly one of them is blaringly glaring, although. i've got observed that right here and there we get some actual hateful kinds. They run their coarse, and then they get kicked out. So perhaps it won't final too plenty longer. shall we are hoping!

I don't think the culprits will respond to this actually.
I do think things have gotten better since school started. The Howrse questions have definately gone nil!!
With the thumbs down, its just insecure ppl that think we care if we get one. I could care less. The trend I see is some immature poster, posts some stupid idiotic answer and downs everyone else. Common sense hopefully reigns and usually they aren't picked.
It doesn't bother me, especially when I see the mentality that I'm dealing with. Cant fight a battle of wits with an unarmed opponent.

I just joined, and used to own horses, so I came to check horses out, but it does seem that there should not be a thumbing system. It just gives trolls a reason to favor or not favor people. Or maybe there is a insider click doing it?

It does seem to be getting a bit extreme. I hate to see really good, thought out answers getting slammed like that. Apparently a bunch of horse posters have offended people, or we've got an obnoxious child running around on here giving thumbs down for kicks.

I also have noticed it and I also noticed that people are putting questions in the cat section and the dog section that don't have to do with cats or to do with dogs and they also have been doing it in other sections. Abide by the Community Guidelines. I have noticed it in here that a lot of people got a thumbs down. It is a TROLL I bet.

I agree with you. Animal people in particular seem to be guilty of this. I don't see it as much in other categories. I save for people who are rude, give blatantly incorrect or dangerous answers or obviously people I report. But if it's just a difference of opinion, i think people should be less judgmental.

The trolls who used to inhabit the message boards are probably now on yahoo answers. Most of them had the brains of a potted plant.
