China is getting pretty advanced.... announcing plans for space exploration and everything. What happened with Japan? Are they still a really smart country but just aren't interested in being powerful? What other countries are getting powerful?

Japan is too small, and too limited by geography and their own laws to be a major world superpower any time soon.

China has the population, the technology and the military forces -- by any objective measure, they've already entered super-power status. India is close behind, but a little lacking in infrastructure -- maybe within the next decade.

Yes, it's too late for America to claim the field exclusively -- we gave up that option in the 1940s when we allowed first the USSR and then China to grow in power and develop nuclear weapons technology.

LOL China space exploration. Wow, I wouldn't want to be the guy picked for that job. Well, regardless, it would nice I think to not be a superpower. But that doesn't mean I want the people of the USA to be powerless. I think we are stepping aside though and the means by which this is happening is not right, as far I'm concerned. Seems to me like people, citizens mean less and less to the country everyday. Because we are becoming less and less significant I think our country is becoming less and less significant at the same time. The power of this nation is the people who run it, not the government, they work for us. And we are handing our power over to a government that does not have our best interest in mind.

it is too late.

you got other super powers now such as russia, china and EU. although none could currently defeat america in a war, they would put up one heck of a fight.
there are also the potential super-powers such as india, nigeria, brazil, iran. they could all become super powers within the next 30 years if they do things right.

but despite all that america is still the ultimate super power and will be so for a long long time. although china is close but they are not technologically there yet. russia and eu lack the numbers to be a super power on the same status as US

America will not stay the only super power forever. We're like the bully stealing everyone's lunch money - eventually someone will stand up to us and kick us in the balls.

China and Russia are the ones we have to worry about right now. They recently held war games, and Russia has publicly stated that they intend on building themselves back to power to counterbalance the US. This received very little news coverage, but it's out there.

China is a threat because we are so far in debt to them financially that we have no way to redeem ourselves. Eventually they will want to collect and we'll be empty handed.

China will catch up simply by shear numbers of their population.

China will implode on itself. Too many poor folks, too much pollution, and substandard products.
