It's sort of a judgement call. If you have itching or pain in your vulva or vagina, go call a doctor. A tinted-yellow vaginal discharge is usually nothing...you will tend to have more discharge when you are a young teen (like you are now) than when you are a more mature woman.

It's pretty impossible to predict when you will get your first period based on your signs of maturity, including discharge. Some mature women have discharge about 14 days before their period, but it is hard to extrapolate that to someone in your age bracket. At your age I would not worry at all... you are not developing slowly. In fact if you start your period now you will be ahead of many of your peers.

It does seem like you're about to get your period soon. You have all the other signs of puberty, and you're the right age. The discharge you're talking about sounds like it's normal. Your hormones are responsible for the slight vaginal discharge. If it's not irritating, itchy or have any kind of strong odor, it's just a normal thing that women put up with. If you're concerned about it, tell your mom, and have her take you to see a gynecologist, a doctor that specializes in women's health issues. Good luck!

This may be a yeast infection. You didn't mention sexual activity but I have every reason to assume you're not.

Yeast infections are very, very common among girls of all ages. They can occur because of humid, hot weather and poor circulation. I.E. wearing tight underwear, wearing a damp swimsuit for several hours.... etc.

Having a yellow discharge does not mean you will get your period soon. But having that clear discharge is an indicator you may soon.

I suggest talking to you mother about this. Trust me, I know it's embarrassing, but you're mother and your mother's mother and her mother's mother has had at least one in her life. It's normal. She can help you get that thing cleared up with anti-biotics you can get over-the counter at Wal-Mart.

Sometimes your discharge will change color from clear to milky to light yellow. If I remember my A&P correctly from college the yellow is just your body getting rid of old cells and the combination of it being exposed to air.

Just keep an eye on it - if you develop itching, or it becomes another color then you may want to get it checked out. You don't have to be sexually active to get a yeast infection.

And, yes, you will probably get your period soon!

Good luck, hon!

Discharges is inside your vagina and cervix make small amounts of fluid. This fluid flows out of the vagina each day, carrying out old cells that have lined the vagina. This is your body's way of keeping your vagina healthy and clean. The discharge is usually clear or milky and doesn't smell bad. If it smells bad you have to see a doctor. I do have discharge 2-3 days before my periods, thats the way i know they're coming, and im 22 yrs old.

You're gonna get your period, very soon. This happens when you miss a period too for a few days, because I am 18 years old and I missed my period for 10 days and I had yellowish pee and discharge -- trust me, it's coming! Because my period came at the end of the week!

Congrats! ^_^

It might be a yeast infection. It can be caused also by an allergic reaction to the material of your panties, a new soap, or even something you eat. Some girls (like me) experience daily for the rest of our lives. Don't panic, just talk to your doctor.
