ive heard this on the news, and a few ppl talking about it here and there....well um...what exactly is it?

There are several Geneva Conventions -- which are treaties that many nations have signed and enacted into law dealing with how war will be conducted, and how prisoners and civilians during wartime will be treated.

The US has signed all four of these Conventions -- named after the place where the conferences were held.

It's an agreement signed and ratified by most civilized countries on Earth, but which Bush tries to do his darnest to circumvent. It deals with the humane treatment of prisoners of war.
