Freezer on Top, on Bottom, or Side-by-Sides?

Depends on what type of food you buy, where you buy it (sizes) your family size and your needs.

I prefer a Freezer on the bottom by a long shot. I only access the freezer once per day, keep a limited number of frozen items, and I have visual acuity problems. It's a lot easier for me to see the food when it is eye level. Also, fresh fruit and vegetables are more likely to be eaten when they are seen rather than 1 foot above the floor. Good idea if you are trying to encourage eating habit changes.

Side by sides are very useful if it works for your family's purchases. If you buy industrial sized containers, such as what is at Sam's Club, it's hard to take things in and out. If you buy large pieces of meat, you must cut them smaller to fit into the freezer (the butcher will do it, but a turkey is kindof ugly cut into 4 pieces. Still cooks the same). It works very well for lots of smaller freezer items, however. You can organize the freezer better.

The standard refrigerator is loads cheaper than the others and easier to access by kids, which may be an important factor. The freezer compartment is also MUCH LARGER than a freezer on bottom as well as many side-by-side models.

Also, if you want the cold water option, it is not available in the freezer on the bottom, but can be had in side-by-side (nearly all models) as well as some freezer on bottom models. You can get an automatic ice feature on all styles, but not all models. Some refrigerator-freezers will not fit in the same space as the prior one without remodeling.

Oh, and my guyfriend adds that only one or two models of side-by-sides allows you to properly fit a large frozen pizza in. Many of the freezer on bottom slide-outs will not fit a large frozen pizza (this is his words, I've never tried it).

As far as energy usage, that is not as much of a factor as you think. If you get the freezer that works for your needs, you will tend to have the door open for shorter periods and that saves energy recooling.

Side by side is handiest but least efficient (cold air spills out of freezer when you open it) and can have problems fitting wider items into freezer. Freezer on bottom is easiest to see its full contents but can be a back-strain to open it. Freezer on top is on your eye level but can have problems with auto-defrost drain line freezing up.

We have side by side and think it is the best.

The newest style (for which you overpay substantially because it is trendy) has a side-by side with a choice of two temperatures (including freeze if you turn down the temperature on one side) and then a large freezer on the bottom.

I dont really like the freezer on bottem because its like an ice chest you have to dig for your food. and I dont like the freezer on top because that just normal ha-ha so I would def go for the side by side it gives your more freezer room in my oppinion and i always have more in my freezer then in my frige it seems. GOOD LUCK!

i like both
get a brand name stainless steel refrigerator and figure out from there which would better suit your needs!

happy shopping!

p.s. if you buy a lot in bulk, the top and bottom feature is practical, but the side by side refrigerator comes with the added plus of the ice maker

My side-by-side isn't big enough to hold frozen pizzas or a Thanksgiving turkey. I wish I had the other kind so, I guess it depends on what you normally keep in your freezer.

i like the side by side because of the ice maker. if you can get a freezer on bottom with the ice maker I would go with that.

If you're refreigerator will be up agains a full wall on either side... don't get a side-by-side model.
On the side with the wall that goes out past the width of the door.... you can't open the door fully.
Its a pain.

specific and no. No, using fact only in view which you want to entice an lively form does no longer propose you're a foul drawer. It nonetheless takes some form of skills and practice, and it does no longer propose you won't be able to do the different kinds. specific, using fact in case you evaluate it to a appealing elaborate panorama/portrait/nonetheless existence, it only does not degree up. lively/sketch form is extra of a approach/capability that doesn't take a lot of attempt.
