What do people think about that? Is that correct? Is it appropriate that it is correct?

I think it's so laughable that it if Gonzales really believes it, it shows just how out of touch he really is.

The problem is that nobody trusted him -- whether he was corrupt or not, whether he was competent or not -- nobody in Congress, and very few in the DoJ, trusted that he could do the job. And that was based solely on his lamentable performance in office -- ethnicity had nothing to do with it.

Republicans had a problem with Gonzales, too. I'd be interested in hearing his explanation of why so many Republicans wanted him to resign.

Edit:

With regard to the post about how "vicious" the Democrats attacks are: What could be more "vicious" than the attacks that Republicans make on Hillary Clinton?

The problem with Gonzales was that he used the AG office to empower the government and weaken the citizens rights.

AG the former AG was railroaded into resigning. He probably was told by his boss (BUSH) to keep it neutral
when being asked by the media why he quit.

No doubt GONZ will be writing a tell all book after Bush leaves office.

It's common to be attacked by Democrats if you're a member of their traditional constituency (women, blacks, hispanics, gay, child molesters, convicted felons) and "defect". They can be vicious in their attacks on these people. They have been particularly vicious with Condi Rice as an example calling her Bush's Ho etc...

That's delusional on his part. It was the lying, stonewalling and basic incompetence that was the problem,
