Sheep do knot shink as a rule but as this may only be a temporary condition, knot like those that fall apart under pressure e.g. the chickenlivered knot, I believe in stressful situations, like these, you really have no other choice.

I don't quite get the meaning of your question, but that knot is usually used to shorten the length of a piece of rope.

I`ve herd they go loopy and get into a right tangle over this. It makes them woolly headed so most of them leg it and go on the ram-page.
