You can honor the fallen, who died making the ultimate sacrifice in the name of freedom,

Or you can use them for your own political agenda, which is mostly aligned with the philosophy condemned by John Stuart Mill in his "war is an ugly thing" paragraph.

You hate Bush, that's your right. You hate the war, again, that's your right. Those men and women in those coffins sacrificed their all in a war so that YOU and I don't have to. Many men and women gave their all in other wars to give you that right. Your concern over their safety is nice, but where was your concern for the military prior to the war.

Peacetime Military Deaths in Clinton Years Higher Than Bush Years
The total military dead in the Iraq war between 2003 and this month stands at about 3,133. However, comparatively the number of military deaths during the Clinton administration: 1,245 in 1993; 1,109 in 1994; 1,055 in 1995; 1,008 in 1996. That's 4,417 deaths in peacetime.

The total military dead in the Iraq war between 2003 and this March 2007 stands at about 3,133. This is tragic, as are all deaths due to war, and we are facing a cowardly enemy unlike any other in our past that hides behind innocent citizens. Each death is blazoned in the headlines of newspapers and Internet sites. What is never compared is the number of military deaths during the previous Clinton administration: 1,245 in 1993; 1,109 in 1994; 1,055 in 1995; 1,008 in 1996. That's 4,417 deaths in peacetime. 4,417 Military deaths during the previous administration. 3,133 under the current administration and during a War. Hopefully this will give some perspective to those people who like to hype the war dead.

Does this really mean that the loss from the two current conflicts in the Middle East are LESS than the loss of military personnel during the previous presidency? Now, are you confused when you look at these figures? I was. Especially when I saw that in 1980, during the reign of President "Nobel Peace Prize" Bill Clinton, there were 2,392 military fatalities of U.S. soldiers. What this clearly indicates is that our media and our politicians pick and choose, which facts to report and which ones not to report.

Putting Iraq in perspective
June 01, 2006 04:00 PM ET
U.S. war fatalities per month:

Iraq 65

Korea 909

Vietnam 526

World War II 6,639

MainStreamMedia has been highlighting casualties as if they were comparable to those in past wars. They're not. They're of the same order of magnitude, as John Hinderaker of Power Line points out, as peacetime military deaths a quarter century ago:

A total of 2,471 servicemembers have died in Iraq from 2003 to the present, a period of a little over three years. That total is almost exactly one third of the number of military personnel who died on active duty from 1980 to 1982, a comparable time period when no wars were being fought. Until very recently, our armed forces lost servicemen at a greater rate than we have experienced in Iraq, due solely to accidental death.

Every death is a tragic loss. But military service is a hazardous occupation, even in peacetime. All the more reason to honor those who volunteer to serve

I look at the "Faces of the Fallen" website from time to time - I have it bookmarked. I see these kids who have been wasted for Bush in this damn war. Everytime I see that smug bastard intoning that it's working, we have them on the run, blah, blah, blah, I know he's never seen either the Post website or the pictures you have posted. He has no idea what he is doing.

Yes they are. It is so unfortunate that all these people...these real people who had families and lives and dreams died in a war that is not even justified!

Willing brave Soldiers, TRUE men of America!!! It's so sad that so many want to degrade their actions and blatantly tell filthy lies on them - Such as John Kerry, Jack Murtha, and Harry Reid., just so they can put America in harms way, and further emboldening of our enemies.

Pitiful.
