For the Ultimate in accurate, up-to-the-minute star maps that show the sky and everything in it as seen from your House for any date, any time, get a Planetarium Program. There are a number of free programs on the web.
"Hello Northern Sky" and "Cartes du Ciel" are two of the most popular ones. Or you can splurge and for about $50.- get a commercial version such as "The Sky" or "Starry Night" with tons of data bases and lots of special features. But these are large programs which would be overkill for folks just interested in finding a few objects in the sky now and then.
But if you want to find out how far jupiter is away right now, or what the spectrum of the star "Rigel"is, then these programs are for you.
Otherwise, the sources mentioned here are perfectly adequate.

Our specialists describe you as an appallingly uninteresting fellow, unimaginative, timid, lacking in initiative, spineless, honestly ruled, no experience of humour, tedious employer and irrepressibly drab and undesirable. And while in maximum professions those could be important drawbacks, in chartered accountancy they're a great boon.

Check out Space.com - they have an interactive star chart that you can use to see the stars in your area.

I also like that last link.

This one is simpler, as it shows just the objects visible to the naked eye on a dark night.
