Why did Hingis retire when she was at the top of her game?

Martina Hingis retired like 3 years ago, then came back again. why did she do this?

she got injured and every time she wanted to come back, the injury kept bothering her... so she waited until she was 100% recovered and then she re-entered the circuit

she was injured at the time,and wasn't recovering from her trouble injuries,and also the players that were coming up were so much bigger and stronger that they were over powering her
