Basically all "quick fixes" are futile in life. All solid genuine "progress" takes time and effort. Ultimately in the long run whatever your heart needs is not futile, but perhaps will take ages to attain.

None; the word is exclusively self oriented, it does not include possibilities for others. The spirit only responds to things of negativity or positivity, not zero values. Something better comes along and time is limited. If we looked at something as futile because of its simplicity, then the Olympics would be futile. Are the Olympic games futile?
