Naruto is a mischievous young boy who, due to the "stigma" of having the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox sealed within him, is shunned by the adults of Village Hidden in the Leaves, since he is the "vessel" of the demon who had killed so many people in the village twelve years ago. Before he was aware of this fact, Naruto was simply a young orphan, living alone in his house, eating his "cup ramen" (instant cup noodles), and basically getting attention to himself by being a brat. He would pull pranks, and vandalize monuments and statues. He even made fun of his ninja apprenticeship classes, inventing "stupid ninja skills" as "Sexy no Jutsu", where instead of transforming his appearance to look like his teacher, he turns in to a naked, blonde girl!

Naruto is not without "serious ninja skills", however. His specialty is the "Kage Bunhsin no Jutsu", learned from a forbidden secret scroll he was tricked into stealing. In contrast to the normal "Bunshin" (clone illusions) done by ordinary ninjas, the "Kage Bunshin no Jutsu" produces multiple "Shadow Clones" of the user, with actual physical bodies. In short, Naruto can create real duplicates of himself (or anything else) and each of the duplicates can physically affect his enemies just like the real thing!

Naruto believes that the only way the people of the village will accept him and acknowledge him as a citizen of the village is to train hard and become the village's next "Hokage" (the highest-level ninja and leader of all ninjas in the village). This is ultimate goal, and he is determined to achieve it no matter what.

Naruto may be a hyperactive knucklehead, but few people have as much sheer guts and willpower, and it can produce a number of surprising results, such as when he first invoked the Shadow Clone technique. Having the much-talked-about Sasuke as a teammate also fuels his fire, since it stirs intense rivalry in both of them, spurring each to push harder.

He doesn't really know it (Kakashi does, though), but Naruto has even more chakra potential than Sasuke. The reason is that the spirit of that infamous nine-tailed fox is still within him, and the dark side of that secret emerges when Naruto is pushed over the mental edge. As he realizes just how big of a problem the demon within him can be, he gains another reason to become stronger: so he can keep the vengeful demon in check.

Their are Ninja villages.The main charactor (Naruto) crew up in one of these ninja villages but he didn't have a very good life before he became a ninja. He was an orphan, with the exception of his teacher at ninja school the head of the ninja village and the chef at his favorite resteruant , no body like hime and most of the adults wouldn't say a single world to him, so he developed a big mouth just to try to get attention which made all the other kids hate him.

One day an adult ninja started to talk to him and made up a fake way for Naruto to graduate from ninja school by going to get a special scroll full of secret ninja magic techniques(A Ninja Magic called jutsus play a big part in the series and B The adult Ninja just wanted the special scroll for himself and decided Naruto was a good scapegoat).Naruto sent to get the scroll and quickly learned one of the techniques, when both his teach at ninja school and the ninja that tricked him into getting the scroll both show up. The ninja that tricked Naruto tells Naruto why he Has been treated so badly.On the day Naruto was born, a giant demon fox with 9 tails shows up and and starts demolishing the village, the only way the village was saved was by one of the leaders of the ninja village using special ninja magic to seal the demon inside Naruto, and whenever one of the adults in the village saw him, all they saw was the demon fox.

The ninja that trick Naruto than starts to hurt Naruto's teach which makes Naruto so furious (because of the way Naruto grew up, this would happen often) that he instinctively tapped into some of the demon's power and Naruto pulled off the technique he just learned from the scroll making a thousand copies of himself and they all beat up the ninja that tricked him. Creating copies of himself (called shadow clones) was the one type of skill that he hadn't developed up until he got the scroll, that was the one thing that was preventing him from graduating and becoming a Gennin (first level ninja).Since his teacher saw that he had mastered it after reading the scroll, he graduated Naruto right than and their.

He was than put on a standard ninja rookie team that seemed to be made specifically for him. The other two first level ninjas were the most skilled student in his class and the most knowledgeable person in his class and the lead by a 3rd level ninja who was one the ninja equivelant of black ops (who in the sequal series was once on a ninja team lead by Naruto's father).Naruto and the most skilled student (Sasuke) became instant competitors with Sasuke showing Naruto up at first.

On their First assignment Naruto talked his way into a job for second level ninjas, which was body gaurdsin case of thieves on the road.It turned out to be much more than that and he and sasuke had to team up to defeat a powerful apprentis to an even more powerful ninja. During the battle he would once again ( and most times after) tapped into the fox demon's power which allowed him to defeat his opponent.

After his first mission his team took part in contests between ninja villages where he came up against one guy with am major chip on his shoulder Named Neji and took hurt a girl that had a crush on Naruto in a previous mach unnecessarally.During Naruto's fight against Neji , as they were beating each other up, Naruto was beating some sense into Neji,after which Neji started to rethink things. Naruto latter came up against a guy named Gaara from another ninja village who also had a demon in him (a sand Demon) which was placed their deliberately. Gaara's village placed the demon in him to try to create the ultimate weapon. This messed with Gaara's mind until He and Naruto fought in a mach and like the mach with Neji, Naruto beat some sense into Gaara.Naruto started to make friends very quickly after that, earning his team mates respect, the respect of his opponents in the tournament, and gradually the respect of virtually everyone in his ninja village as he fought progressively.

During the tournament, his team leader wanted Sasuke one on one but didn't want to leave Naruto without anyone so he found a substitute. Naruto new this substitute had an enbarassing secret that Naruto knew.When another guy (who turned out to be a master level ninja) came along,the substitute just left Naruto, so Naruto started to bug the master level ninja (named Jeraiya) and no matter how fast Jeraiya ran or how well he hid Naruto would always find him, so eventually Jeraiya gave him a lesson just to get Naruto out of his hair eventually, when Jeraiya realized that Naruto had the Demon Fox in him.Jariaya Eventually starting teaching Naruto how to call on,contro, and use the demon's power at will instead of just by instinct when he was furious.

Over the course of the tournament Naruto and Sasuke became best friends

Also during the Tournament an evil ninja(who used to be the teammate of the master ninja that Naruto met) named Orochimaru who used a forbidden evil magic technique on Susuke that would gradually give him more power but also cloud his thinking.Over the long course of the tournament Naruto's skills would dramatically improve.This made Sasuke feel like he was standing still, than Sasuke's older brother who wiped out the rest of their clan,and despite all his special training, His older brother shrugged off Sasuke's best attack like it was nothing. This combined with the feeling like he was standing still compare to Naruto's progress, the clouded thoughts of Sasuke due to the ninja magic of the evil ninja lead Sasuke to abandon the ninja village and join with the evil ninja.

Naruto along with an elite group of other first level ninjas tried to get him back, defeating most of the evil ninjas followers in the process but Naruto barely was defeated by Sasuke. Jeraiya, the master ninja took Naruto on full time as a student and his other teammate travel with them, during their travels they came across a woman that was the other teammate of Jeraiya, named Tsunadae.TsunadaeTsunadae took an instant disliking of Naruto because he looked and acted a lot like here deceased little brother.Naruto at the time was trying to learn a master level technique that Jeraiya was instructing him on. Tsunade didn't he could do it at all since it both Jeraiya and the fourth leader of the ninja village who created the technique years to perfect, Naruto boasted he would do it in a week. Orochimaru who was weakened camed to tsunadae to ask if she could heal him. when She refused Both Orochimaru and his apprentice started to attack and Naruto jumped in using the technique that he had beeen working on all week. Naruto's courage reminded Tsunade even more of her deceased little brother and started to think of Naruto as a little brother.The two them along with Jeraiya drove the evil ninja and his apprentice off.Tsunade was than made leader of the Ninja village (the leader up until than sacrificed himself to stop orochimaru.

Naruto has many more missions after that.Than their is the sequel series Naruto Shippuden which takes place several years after the original ended after Jeraiya has fully trained Naruto. So far in this series Naruto seems to split his time between trying to get Sasuke back, more training and defending thte village from more and more powerful opponants.
