or say a Companies name in a book or in a website?, htmlgoodies says NO for a website in their book from 1998 but im not sure if laws have past since then, even if it is free advice and helpful would someone need permission? even in a story book making profilt off the book not the site itself..to me that would helping that Company, or still would a permission be wise?

If you are asking about linking to someone else'a page from yours, you can generally do that without permission.

Well yes and no. You can probably do it, but uhm... it's risky. It's implying some kind of relationship that may or may not exist.

There are trademark and other concerns that need to be dealt with. Why don't you just get written permission? It's never a bad thing and it could very well cover you later on.
