The router is conencted to the modem first. Connect the router to your desktop to customize it.
Does your Laptop have a wireless capability?
Email and we can talk.
Or simply call the Router company.

All the answers seem to be interpreting your question differently than I do. I believe you are saying the desktops are connected to the router with wires (ethernet cables) and you are not able to get a wifi signal. I would imagine the router is NOT wifi. If it doesn't have an antenna sticking up from the back, or specifically says it is a wireless router then it is not a wireless router, but rather a router only. In order to use your wireless (wifi) adapter to access the internet, you will need a wireless router. You can use it in addition to the router you already have (a trick to install), or just replace the router you currently have. Good Luck

a little more information would be good for those trying to help you with your connection problems:

but... try the following:

it may depend on your internet provider
did they give you 2 IP addresses with your services?
if so - then you should be able to get both computers running with your router
so you may want to call your internet provider and ask them if you can connect both pc's through a router

next - did you connect the "internet cable" to your router - then to the modem?
or - connect the "internet cable" to the modem - then to the router?

you may have your wires crossed at some point - go through the diagram they provide with the router - and make sure all wires are connected properly

your internet provider may be able to walk you through the connections

good luck

Well as long as you have a wireless router and you have wirless on your laptop you should be able to connect some times on the router the wirless needs to be enabled they are not always on by defult and onl your laptop on the new ones their is a switch on the laptop to enable the wirless or a FN key and one of your Function keys like FN and F2 for exp so I would check both of those things once you are able to connect the next thing is you want to make sure you set up your router securly so you can aviod free loaders getting on to your wirless connection. If you need help securing your router if it is a new router chances are you have free tech support on it for like a year or 90 days something like that.
hope this helps take care.
