Your avatar name says it all doesn't it.
My guess is that if you just "have a few" you will not be able to stop there.
Probably wouldn't hurt you to NOT drink. Try some of the beers that don't have any alcohol in them.

You said earlier that you were a recovering alcoholic so I would guess you should not grab onto beers. You are on an antibiotic and a pill for a bladder infection--the orange urine trip. A kidney infection is usually a mess with a fever, and nausea and often barfing---a bladder infection is the urge to go to the bathroom often with extreme pain and then passing blood. Get a second opinion you are being treated for two different things. Been there and done both and have lots of med certs from caring for ill people.

As long as it's only a " couple " of beers then that should be ok. The problem with drinking alcohol while on an antibiotic, is that it can make the medicine less effective. How long until you are finished with the antibiotic ? The pill that turns your urine orange, is a urinary antiseptic that provides numbness to the bladder so that it is less painful when you have to urinate ( pee ). But, a couple of beers, should not cause any significant set backs in your treatment. There will be many people that may disagree with me but, you should be fine. Just don't drink too much, OK??

Please don't drink a beer, especially with a kidney infection.
The antibiotic for kidney infection would indicate you certainly shouldn't be adding alcohol. Ciprofloxin is a good drug but its effects may work adversely if you drink with it. Mostly if you mix it with caffeine. Maybe you can drink those kind that taste like beer, without the alcohol,
It's your decision in the long run, but either way, enjoy the barbecue.
Addendum: Cipro is usually not taken for a kidney infection but maybe you need to consult your physician.

No it wont kill you but alcohol can have two kinds of reactions with antibiotics or any medication in that fact. 1) Cause it not to work, result your infection will get way worse before better and needed more antibiotics 2) It enhances the prescribed drug causing a major reaction.

I am sorry to have to tell you this but, you cannot drink while on antibiotics. It will cause the medicine to not work! So, I think I would stick to some cranberry juice, water and food!
I still wish you a very happy time at the party! I hope this clears up quickly too!

like the other person said.. it is best to consult the pharmacist
but i do not think a few beers, well spaced out..will hurt....
cipro does not have an adverse interactiion with alcohol
beer also tends to have a diuretic quality..it might actually help the kidneys to flush out the infection...however, this could also dilute the cipro..but any liquid would do that....

It won't hurt you, but drinking too much can make the antibiotic less effective. A few beers should be ok.

Yes, it will effect your antibiotic, more importantly you need to tell what the infection is, so we also know what the antibiotic is for, I would not drink any alcohol, coming from a nurse

I have no idea about the med and alcohol combination. But how can you even ask this question if you are a recovering alcoholic? You already know the answer!!!
