No problem:
a = 1.5c ( = c + 50% of c)
b = 1.25c ( = c + 25% of b)
so now we can do:
a / b = 1.5c / 1.25c (and c drops) = 1.2
Namely: a is 1.2b, or 20% more than b.
Get it?

A is 20% larger than B.
Lets say C=100, Then A would be 150 (150%) which is 50% larger than C and B would be 125 (125%) wich is 25% larger than C. OK so you take A (150) and devide it by B (125) which = 1.2 or (120%) which means its 120% as larg whis is the same as 20% larger.

a = 1.5c --> c = 2/3*a
b = 1.25c
b = 1.25*(2/3)*a
b = .83a
a = 1.2b
a is 20% larger than b

a = 1.5 x c (50% greater than c)
b = 1.25 x c
a/b = 1.5 / 1.25 = 1.2
so a is 20% greater than c
